A family qualifies to be rich when it has acquired enough wealth to comfortably support a lavish lifestyle for the next 6 generations or so. This means that the descendants of a rich family do not have to work to earn a living. They live off the fortune accumulated by their forefathers.

Shocking: President Uhuru Kenyatta’s New Salary after the 80% Pay Cut following Coronavirus Pandemic

This is Why Coronavirus is Wreaking More Havoc Among the Black -American Communities.

This is Why Coronavirus is Wreaking More Havoc Among the Black -American Communities

BBC has revealed disturbing news in the wake of the Coronavirus in the US. This follows the release of statistics from Chicago health officials. It is coming out that the blacks living in Chicago account for half of the entire Covid 19 cases in the city and more than 70% of deaths, despite constituting  30% of the population.

It is disturbing also that other cities with huge black populations like New Orleans, Milwaukee, Detroit and Newyork have become the new Covid 19 hotspots.

The records further reveal that a total of 370,000 Americans are infected with this virus while about 11,000 people have succumbed to the virus.

This is against a backdrop of 75,000 deaths and 1.3 Million infections cases globally.

Why is it that the virus is devastating to more blacks compared to others?  Could it be linked to their living conditions? Is it not disturbing that blacks account for 41% of Covid-19 fatalities, despite making up to 14% of the population in Illinois?

It is on record also that the black city residents had a lower life expectancy compared to their white counterparts. According to the Chicago public health commissioner, Dr. Allison Arwady, the blacks already lived on average about 8.8 years less than the white population.

Nationally, data has revealed that vulnerability to the infection may vary from one neighborhood to another. A case in point is the data of the infections and deaths from Michigan. Black Americans make up 14% of the entire population, however, they account for 33% of the covid 19  cases and 41% of deaths, according to the state health department.

Another case in point is data from Detroit and Michigan. It reveals that 80% of the confirmed Covid19 cases are blacks who constitute about 80% of the population here.

According to mayor Lightfoot,  respiratory diseases, heart conditions and diabetes were very common among the blacks living in this city. This was associated with food and lack of exercise due to lack of walkable streets by Dr, Awards.

Dr, Cameron Webb, a black American physician is on record telling the BBC that the racial and economic disparities were being pronounced by the pandemic. He said that “ it exposes our society’s fault lines”

In the Wake of Corona Virus:How Many Ventilators do African Countries Have To Rescue Lives of The Corona Critically Ill?

A ventilator machine-crucial in saving lives of the Covid19 critically ill

The Covid 19 disease caused by the Coronavirus has hit the world by storm. What started in Wuhan China as a normal Respiratory disease has spread throughout the world causing fear, panic and lots of deaths. This spread has brought the world to a standstill! In the wake of this highly infectious disease so many terms have become very common as the world health experts and governments try to mitigate this scourge. One of the most mentioned equipment in trying to alleviate the effects of the pandemic is the ventilator.

 What is a ventilator?

In very simple terms a ventilator is a machine that takes over a human’s breathing process when a disease cripples the lungs making them not function as designed. Therefore, the ventilator assumes the role of the lungs thus giving the body time to battle off the infection and recover.

How do ventilators work?

courtesy

Why are ventilators key in the fight against coronavirus?

As much as some 80% of people with the virus (Corona) recover without needing medical-hospital- treatment, one out of every six patients becomes critically ill developing difficulties in breathing( According to WHO)

In such severe cases, the lungs get damaged by the virus prompting the body’s immune system to expand the blood vessels, increasing the entry of the immune cells. This poses a great danger of the fluid getting into the lungs making the patient’s breathing difficult. When the breathing is hampered, oxygen levels drop. This is when the ventilator comes in handy to push air with high oxygen concentration into the lungs. To ensure that the air getting pushed into the patient’s lungs is of the same body temperature as that of the patient’s, the ventilator has a humidifier that heats and moisturizes the medical air. So in essence, the ventilator regulates the breathing of the patients until they recover.

Availability and cost of ventilators.

Unfortunately, these ventilators are not readily available in the wake of this virus. For instance, according to Aljazeera.com, in the United States, which has tested and confirmed the most cases in the globe, the Society of Critical Care Medicine has projected that 960,000 Coronavirus patients may be put on ventilators as they go through the treatment process. However, the US has approximately 200,000 ventilators some of which are old fashioned and thus may not be so helpful to the critically ill. The situation may be worse in nations with weak health care systems. A case in point is an African nation- Mali- that has only 56 machines against a population of 19 million!

It becomes clear that one of the biggest bottlenecks facing the medical caregivers around the globe amid the Covid 19 pandemic is attempting to save lives that require critical care on a background of limited medical infrastructure. It is from this point of reference that the globe’s biggest manufacturer of ventilators, the Swiss-based Hamilton Medical AG, purposes to increase production numbers to 21,000 this year, up from 15,000 in 2019.

What does the future hold for the so-called developing countries if this covid19 continues to spread?

(Strange) Top 10 Famous but fictional cities, towns, and villages (In pictures)

Fiction and Literature: A complete list of 10 cities, towns and villages that cannot be traced in history

Gotham City: a dark, crime laden locale. Home of Batman

With its debut being traced to Batman (Winter, 1940), Gotham City is a fictional American city.

It first served as the home of Batman and the physical setting of Batman comics and other adaptations.

It is depicted as a dark, crime laden locale which has been described by Frank Miller, an author as New York City at night.

So if you thought that Gotham City did exist, you are mistaken just as I am.

Metropolis: the home of Superman

Metropolis has never been real! It is just a fictional city that was first featured in “Action Comics” and has since served as the home of Superman and the main setting for all his comics and other adaptations.

Riverdale: presented as a suburban town with parks, shopping malls and restaurants

Sweet and realistic as the name sounds, Riverdale has never existed. So if you are looking forward to the day you will set your eyes on this suburban town with parks, shopping malls and restaurants; then I am afraid you will have to wait till Jesus comes back because it can never happen. Riverdale is a fictional city mainly featured in the Archie Comics whose exact location has never been traced.

Zion: the last human city standing on Planet Earth after a cataclysmic nuclear war

This is a famous name, right? Well the truth of the matter is, there is no city going by the name Zion in this world. Zion City is a product of human imagination which first appeared in “The Matrix” films.

In the film, Zion is the last human city standing on Planet Earth after a cataclysmic nuclear war between humans and machines resulting in artificial life forms dominating the world.

Springfield: a mid-sized town, setting for American animated sitcom dubbed “The Simpsons”

In fiction, Springfield is a mid-sized town acting as the setting for American animated sitcom dubbed “The Simpsons.”

It acts as a hub in which characters can explore issues faced by modern society but in the world of Geography and map work, there is no such town as Springfield.

South Park Colorado: home to popular characters ranging from students to elementary school staff. A bland and serene place to live in.

In most works of Fiction, the name South Park Colorado is used to describe a small fictional town that acts as home to popular characters ranging from students to elementary school staff.  South Park Colorado is a bland and serene place to live in but it does not exist in real life.

Castle Rock: a typical small town in New England with the darkest secrets that the world has ever known

Being part of Stephen King’s fiction, Castle rock appears realistic especially having served as the setting for many of his literary works including the novel, novellas and short stories.

However, it is greatly disappointing to find out that there is no place called Castle Rock.

Africa has always been described as one of the most resource-laden continents in the world. From its vast natural resources to the immense youthful population that offers the much needed human resource for growth. It is no wonder that the white colonialists partitioned and scrambled for the continent. Even when the natives rose up in arms and resisted the imperialism and the exploitation, many colonial masters could not live with the idea that they could leave such a rich continent. It is a historical fact that South Africa gained independence very late(1994) compared to other African countries because of her vast resources, more so the gold of Joburg and the diamonds.

Kenyan Gospel musician Ruth Matete’s husband died from complications resulting from 60% burns he suffered after a gas explosion in their home on March 30, 2020.

Addressing the media at the KNH mortuary after examining Pastor-John Apewajoye’ s body, Johansen Oduor, chief government pathologist confirmed that John Olakanmi Apewajoye indeed succumbed to complications including sepsis and multiple organ failure resulting from the 60% burns.

However, Ruth Matete is not yet allowed to bury her beloved husband until the Nigerian Government issues a directive allowing its release.

Homicide

Dr. Oduor was in charge of a team comprising four pathologists and senior homicide detectives in conducting pastor Apewajoye’s post mortem at the Kenyatta National Hospital Mortuary in Nairobi on Thursday afternoon.

“He died of burns which were mixed degree burns estimated at 60 percent. In burns, what kills are the complications that arise. In this case, there was sepsis, multiple organ failure, and all that (sic),” explained Dr. Oduor.

He further said that John Apewajoye’ s body did not have any marks indicative of injuries.

“We checked and there was none,” added Dr. Oduor.
