TSC list of promoted teachers in 2021

TSC promotion letters for teachers 2021: The Teachers service commision, TSC, has started issuing promotion letters to teachers who put their best foot forward during the February 2021 TSC teachers’ promotions interviews conducted at the county levels.

The Commission which  is constitutionally Mandated to register, hire, transfer, promote and excercise disciplinary control over teachers in both primary and secondary schools has the final say over when it comes to either promoting or demoting teachers.

Categories of TSC Promotions

TSC promotions fall into two categories which include automatic TSC promotions for teachers in lower grades, bands and promotions on a competive basis.

Automatic promotions are issued to teachers who fall within the Common cadre grades such as C2 to C3 whereby after three years one gets automatically is moved to a new pay scale in secondary schools.

Competive TSC teachers’ Promotions on the other hand are subject to the availability of funds and vacancies. In this case, the Commission compiles a list of available vacancies and advertisements are disseminated via formal communication channels and interviews conducted.

TSC Teachers’ Promotions results 2021: After conducting interviews at County levels, the panelists send the results to the TSC headquarters in Nairobi so that  candidates are notified by being issued with either promotion or regret letters.

Early this year the commision conducted Interviews for approximately 33, 000 teachers who had applied for the advertised TSC Promotional grades.

Latest updates on the 2021 TSC teachers’ promotions now indicate that some Principals who qualified have already been notified as shown by this post in one of the teachers whatsapp walls.

Attention now turns to teachers in job group L or C3 who are expecting their letters soon with fingers crossed.

Over 6000 vacancies were up for grabs as many tutors who had Stagnated in job group L battled it out in the interviews earlier in the year desiring to move to C4.

Job group L is the worst affected on matters Stagnation with some teachers staying up to 16 years without any annual salary increment to cushion them against inflation.

Due to limited vacancies and funds, it is possible for one to attend even more than two intervews without success. Not because of incompetence though but due to the aforementioned reasons.

There have been calls from unions to let job group C4 become a common cadre grade to allow teachers move undeterred.

If promoted to C4 one becomes an administrator in the name of a senior master who is the equivalent of a middle level manager, previously a head of department.

Do you think it is time C3 to C4 became a common cadre grade?

TSC Replacement Vacancies 2025: Necessary Documents for Teacher Recruitment Interviews

TSC Replacement Vacancies 2025: Necessary Documents for Teacher Recruitment Interviews

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has provided clear instructions regarding the documents candidates must bring to teacher recruitment interviews.

To ensure a transparent and merit-based recruitment process, candidates are required to present both original and clear copies of specific documents for verification by the TSC.

Documents Required for Interviews

Shortlisted candidates for teacher recruitment interviews must bring several essential documents.

They need to present the originals and clear photocopies of their National Identification Card, TSC Certificate of Registration, and academic credentials, including degree or diploma certificates along with their official transcripts for each qualification listed in their application.

Additionally, candidates must show their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) certificates.

For those who have taken KCSE and KCPE multiple times, certificates from all attempts must be provided.

Candidates should also present all primary and secondary school leaving certificates and any relevant testimonials.

If the applicant has a disability, they should include documentation from the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD).

In cases where there are discrepancies in names across the documents, a sworn affidavit must be provided to clarify these differences.

If any academic certificate is missing, a certification letter from the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) is required.

The TSC has stressed that incomplete documents will not be accepted.

Verification of Academic and Professional Documents

The TSC will verify all academic and professional documents to ensure that only qualified individuals are recruited.

Provisional academic documents will not be accepted.

All applicants must bring the original and photocopies of all necessary supporting documents, including identification, academic records, school leaving certificates, and any other relevant documents.

Intern teachers have a simplified verification process and only need to present their national ID card.

Documentation for Successful Applicants

Successful candidates will need to submit additional paperwork to the Secretary of the Selection Panel during the recruitment process.

Required documents include: both sides of the national ID, two recent passport-sized color photos, KCPE and KCSE certificates, any A-Level qualifications, all academic qualifications (including diplomas or degrees) along with their transcripts, the TSC registration certificate, the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) PIN, a copy of the bank card, a completed pay point form, the GP 69 Medical Examination Form, and a receipt confirming the submission of documents.

Final Submission to TSC Headquarters

The final paperwork from TSC County Directors will be submitted to the TSC headquarters and will include signed panel minutes, county merit lists of successful candidates (including those with disabilities), and employment letters along with the original KNEC documents for authenticity, as well as the GP 69 medical form.

It is crucial to ensure that all documents are certified, organized correctly, and spelled accurately to facilitate a smooth onboarding process.

According to a senior TSC official, having complete and orderly documents is essential for timely processing, allowing the TSC payroll to handle your documentation promptly.

There has been a tendency for candidates to forget documents, so it is important to carefully review the list and ensure that all required documents are brought to avoid disqualification in the future.

TSC Starts Promotions of School Administrators: Here Is A List Of Requirements

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has officially kicked off promotion interviews of school administrators in arid and semi-arid areas and secondary school teachers with higher qualifications.

The April 2023 TSC Promotion Vacancies will be filled this month through a rigorous competitive process that is being spearheaded by County selection panels.

The interviews which started on Monday will end on Friday. Candidates will thereafter wait patiently for a promotion letter or a regret.

Successful applicants will consequently enjoy increased salary perks per month affecting the basic pay, house allowance, commuter allowance and responsibility allowance(for school administrators only.)

List Of Requirements for 2023 TSC Promotions

According to Section 23(1) of the Teachers Service Commission Act, 2012, all applicants must be certified teachers. A candidate who has not completed the registration process will not be considered.

The County Selection Panel will use each applicant list to narrow the field down to five (5) potential candidates for each position. The Teachers Service Commission’s website will provide information about those who were selected for interviews, as well as the dates and locations at which they will take place.

According to Teacher Service Commission, TSC, the school administrators include senior masters, deputy head teachers, deputy principals, head teachers, and principals. School Administrators are found in primary and secondary schools and teachers training colleges, both regular and special schools.

After applying for TSC advertised vacancy the next step is to attend the interviews as scheduled. Before attending the interview session, it is good to prepare adequately.

Having a solid grasp of the material you’re trying to impart is essential. In addition, you’ll have an advantage over the competition if you’re well-versed in extracurricular activities.

According to Section 23(1) of the Teachers Service Commission Act, 2012, all applicants must be certified teachers. A candidate who has not completed the registration process will not be considered.

To prevent the hiring of unregistered or deregistered individuals, TSC County Directors are obligated to have institution heads verify the online registration status of applicants throughout the shortlisting process.

If a candidate’s name is misspelled on any of their official documents (such as transcripts, licenses, or identification cards), they must submit an Affidavit, sworn under the Oaths and Statutory Declarations Act, Cap 15 of the Laws of Kenya, to explain the discrepancy.

The County Selection Panel will use each applicant list to narrow the field down to five (5) potential candidates for each position. Breaking: TSC likely to advertise more vacancies-teaching positions to replace approximately 7, 000 teachers who exited service by December 31, 2020

Breaking: TSC likely to advertise more vacancies-teaching positions to replace approximately 7, 000 teachers who exited service by December 31, 2020

The Teacher Service Commission is in the process of advertising new posts to replace a high number of teachers who have exited the profession.

About 7908 teachers exited by 31st December 2020 when they attained the mandatory retirement age set at 60 years.

Initially, projections were made that around 12000 teachers could  exit the profession by the end of last year.

To address the huge void that will be left behind ,the commission responded by advertising posts on internship basis and interviews were conducted last week.

The commission is also in the process of filing the gap that was created when most of the teachers aged 58 and above were advised to work from home.

Some of them were holding administrative posts.

This forced the commission to advertise about 15000 vacancies for senior teachers, deputies and heads with the deadline having been set on 15 January 2021.

The teachers’ employer will be forced to move with speed to replace these teachers that have retired.

Withthe school already set for reopening on Monday, teachers will have a hard time to cope up with the increased workload already. Therefore, any extra hand will be highly appreciated.

TSC Recruitment 2021/2022: Number of Shortlisted Applicants Stands at 350,000 compared to 9,000 Advertised Posts as of July 2021

Number of Shortlisted Applicants Stands at 350,000 compared to 9,000 Advertised Posts as of July 2021

Teachers Service Commission has shortlisted unemployed trained teachers to fill 9,000 vacancies that were advertised recently.

The number of unemployed trained teachers in the country stands at 350,000.

The high number of trained teachers eyeing only 9,000 teaching posts reveals the sorry state of unemployment in the country.

Interviews for shortlisted candidates will take place between July 22 and July 28 and the successful applicants are expected to report on September 1.

The commission has already sent the merit lists to TSC county directors. County bosses have also distributed merit lists to sub county directors who will supervise the interviews that will be done in stipulated venues in each sub county across the country.

Prospective secondary school teachers will have the privilege of securing employment in the school they applied for while primary school teachers will be posted in any part of the country and not necessarily in the county where they will be recruited.

Applicants will face interviewing panels consisting of chair of the board of management, secretary of the Board (the principal), a subject specialist and the TSC county director, or a representative.

After county selection exercises and interviews have been conducted, the commission will allow applicants who might have been dissatisfied with the whole process to present their complaints between July 29 and August 6, which will be addressed at the county level.

Where the complaint is levelled against the TSC County Director, the TSC Headquarters shall investigate the allegations and take appropriate action.

Teachers serving under the internship are the greatest beneficiary in the recent recruitment exercise since they will get a 30-mark head start according to the TSC score sheet. However, the puzzle lies how the selection panel award the 30 marks so as not to disadvantage the senior interns who were recruited in 2019.

The teachers’ employer’s move to award more marks to interns is a clear indication that no teacher will secure a permanent and pensionable job before serving as an intern.

When the commission first introduced the internship programme in 2019, many teachers avoided and stayed away from it as the interns only earned a stipend of Sh10,000 (for primary school teachers) and Sh15,000 for secondary. This has, however, been raised by Sh5,000 for each category.

The next TSC Recruitment Cycle will be announced after the Teachers Service Commission, TSC receives its budgetary allocation got the 2022/2023 financial year next year.

TSC Internship 2021: Since the year 2020, the Teachers Service Commission, TSC has been recruiting teachers on an internship contract basis for a minimum period of 12 months annually to bridge the huge gaps in Kenya’s Education sector.

TSC Internship Recruitment Vacancies per county 2021/2022

The announcement of TSC Internship 2021 is a reprieve for trained teachers who are likely to miss out on the ongoing comparatively lucrative TSC Mass Recruitment of teachers  on permanent and pensionable terms.

TSC Internship  Vacancies Advertisement September 2021

Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nancy Macharia has said that the commission is ready to hire 5,000 teachers from 22 July 2021 following the advertisement issued earlier this month.

After the completion of the exercise, around 1995 intern teachers will also be recruited in the 2021/22 financial year. In a communication on Wednesday, CEO Nancy Macharia said the Treasury has allocated 2.5 billion to recruit teachers.

2021 TSC Internship Application, Deadline

Internship slots in various schools of the republic have been released on September 15 and applicants will have to submit their application through tsc application portal https://hrmis.tsc.go.ke/ from September 15 2021 to September 27 2021

TSC Internship September 2021; Official Reporting Dates- October 2021

Shortlisted teachers who will bag the 1995 TSC Internship posts will have to report at their respective stations latest by October 2021.

“This is to reduce the burden of teachers in handling the increased enrollment. Eligible unemployed and registered teachers will look for advertisements for applications next month,” read his statement partially.

According to Nancy Macharia, she has trained over 100,000 teachers to prepare for CBC implementation in grade 5 in July. The Treasury allocated one billion shillings for CBC teacher training in the next fiscal year.

The Commission has allocated Sh2.5 billion for teacher recruitment to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) in the year starting July, despite requesting 13.1 billion shillings.

The lack of funding means that the commission will not achieve its target of recruiting 25,000 teachers and 12,000 interns in the next financial year amid a huge shortage across the country.

Macharia said they have already trained 156,000 teachers in primary schools on CBC. The implementation of the Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC) suffered a setback after the National Fund allocated only 1 billion shillings and reduced the allocation to 18.7 billion shillings to the teacher’s employer.

A total of 202.8 billion shillings was set aside for the education sector’s recovery programs after the time lost since the COVID-19 outbreak in the country in March 2020.

Educational institutions were closed for nine months due to the outbreak. Treasury CS Ukur Yatani also said that 12 billion shillings would cover 62.2 billion rupees for free primary education, 2.5 billion shillings to recruit teachers, and free day-to-secondary education, including insurance for learners.

“Four billion shillings is for exam fee waiver for all class eight and 1 billion for four candidates and for the school meal program,” Yatani said.

TSC had proposed an allocation of Sh300.5 billion to finance its activities, including hiring more teachers to manage the increased student population under the government’s 100 percent transition from primary school.

TSC Internship Recruitment August 2021 Application

Applications for Teachers Service Commission (TSC) vacancies are done purely online. In filling the advertised teaching vacancies, the Commission invites eligible teachers to submit their applications online at the TSC Online Recruitment Portal; https://hrmis.tsc.go.ke/

TSC PROMOTIONS: TEACHER SELECTION CRITERIA, APPLICATION PROCEDURE, APPRAISAL REPORTS, DENIAL OF PROMOTION, PROMOTION OF TEACHERS ON RE-EMPLOYMENT, SECONDMENT OR STUDY LEAVE AND LAPSE (EXPIRY) OF A TSC PROMOTION OFFER

The Teachers Service Commission provides a window for career growth for teachers working under permanent and pensionable terms.

However, not all teacher promotions at the Teachers Service Commission are automatic.

The promotion of teachers by the commission depends on the existing schemes of service.

TSC promotions are subject to available vacancies and availability of funds.

Some of the criteria used by the commission to promote teachers from one grade to the next include:

  1. Merit and ability reflected in teacher’s work, performance and results
  2. Seniority and experience of the teacher in question
  3. Existence of vacancies
  4. Academic and professional qualifications
  5. Any other criteria that the Commission deems fit for teacher promotions
  6. The validity of the teacher’s teaching certificate
  7. Teacher’s performance of duty
  8. Length of stay by the teacher in a given grade
  9. The overall score attained by the teacher during interviews (competitive selection)

Application and consideration for TSC Promotions

How to apply for TSC promotions, the latest guidelines

TSC promotions are based on highly competitive terms.

To start with, teachers seeking TSC promotions should tender their interest: filling Form G (as set out Twenty-First Schedule) or Form H (as SET OUT IN THE Twenty-Second Schedule)

The commission shall then produce a list of candidates liable for TSC interviews.

Once the interviews have been conducted, successful applicants shall be informed and receive a letter showing their promotion to the next grade.

The next step is taking up a Teacher Proficiency Course administered by the Commission for that purpose.

Use of Appraisal report for promotion

When promoting teachers, the Commission shall take into account appraisal reports submitted under Regulation 52.

Denial of TSC Promotions, why and when

The Teachers Service Commission may refuse to consider a teacher for promotion if s/he has not completed two years since the teacher was found guilty following disciplinary action, one year from the date the teacher was issued with an administrative warning.

Promotion of teachers on re-employment (when)

To be promoted, a teacher re-employed by the TSC must complete at least three years of continuous service.

Promotion of teachers on study leave or secondment, is it possible?

The commission can promote teachers on secondment or paid study leave upon successful interview as set out in the Schemes of service.

The effective date for the promotion of a teacher who receives promotion while on paid study leave or secondment is usually determined by the Commission.

Consideration for TSC Promotions

Except for special cases, consideration for promotion is based on the teacher’s willingness to take up the post and the existence of a vacancy within the establishment.

Lapse or expiry of TSC Promotion offer

A TSC Promotion offer is valid for only thirty days.  Therefore if the promoted teacher does not take up the position that he or she has been offered by the Commission, his or her promotion shall be declared null and void.

This condition however does not apply for teachers on paid study leave or secondment.
