The Government of Kenya via the Steering Committee in charge of  national sanitation recently launched the recruitment of new workers and supervisors for the Kazi Mtaani Programme in Mid-November (19).

Since then, the official Kazi Mtaani Application Portal has been a beehive of activities with the Kenyan youth applying for the vacancies to shield themselves from the biting harsh economic realities of life ushered in by the ballooning wage bill, debt and hiking of prices for sugar, petrol and other basic commodities.

This is the third phase of the Kazi Mtaani recruitment exercise and the state housing and urban development department has announced plans of absorbing inexperienced, semi-experienced and experienced youth to take up available positions.

Kazi Mtaani recruitment Portal Now Open

The government, through the Steering Committee of the National Sanitation Program, announced new recruitment of workers and supervisors for the Kazi Mtaani program on Friday, 19 November. Since then, the portal has remained open. Kenyan Youth have got 11 days to tender their interest since the application deadline for Kazi Mtaani jobs 2021-2022 has been set on 30th November 2021.

Successful applicants will Earn a weekly salary amounting to Kshs 4,000. This translates to a monthly stipend of Kshs 20, 000.
As opposed to an earlier contract that the youths had in the just concluded exercise where they were paid Sh.455 Per day Translating to Sh. 5000 in two weeks, this new contract will usher in a better era where successfully recruited youths will pocket Sh. 8000 in two weeks which is a 80% increment from previous stipends

Kazi Mtaani Scope 2021-2022

The state housing and urban development department announced that it is recruiting inexperienced, experienced and semi-experienced youth in the third phase of Kazi Mtaani programme.

Work streams include construction work using appropriate building materials and technologies (ABMT), construction of hostels in selected TVETs, construction work to meet the already stalled economic incentive program market, construction work to remove asbestos roofing in government estates.

During a press briefing, the government promised to ensure a 50-50 gender balance in the programme, as it had done with previous peers.

People with disabilities were also encouraged to apply for opportunities.

The government announced that it would initiate the selection process of those who had registered through a set criteria that would consider the experience, requirements of the projects, availability of projects within a region, vulnerability of the application among others.

Contrary to early contract that the youths had in the just concluded exercise where they were paid Sh.455 Per paid Translating to Sh. 5000 in two weeks, this new contract will see youths pocket Sh. 8000 in two weeks which a 80% increment from previous stipends.

“The selection committee will consist of NGAO, Nyumba Kumi and technical officers from various agencies,” the government said.

In addition, Charles Hinga, principal secretary of the state’s Department of Housing and Urban Development, stressed that the registration process will not be on a first-come, first-served basis.

The deadline for this Application has been set on 30th, November, 2021.

“Please note, the registration period will not close today. We have over a million traffic trying to register,” Hinga said.

The initiative was launched in July 2020 with the aim of improving sanitation and hygiene in informal settlements as well as helping thousands of youth who have been rendered jobless by the pandemic.

During the two groups, youth received extensive training on life experiences such as setting up a business, HIV/AIDS prevention, mental health and counseling, and basic experiences in masonry and carpentry.

Kazi Mtaani Qualifications

This programme is exclusively meant for the Kenyan youth who are currently tarmacking owing to the high rates of inflation.

The Commission has already trained CSOs, County ICT officers, Sub County Directors, county and regional directors on the new TPAD tool.

Consequently, the County and regional directors of Education are expected to disseminate the information to all teachers as part of the process of sustaining the progress made through the TPAD process.

The TPAD champions to be selected include:

  1. Two teachers from every primary school
  2. Two teachers from every secondary school

This is Why Coronavirus is Wreaking More Havoc Among the Black -American Communities

BBC has revealed disturbing news in the wake of the Coronavirus in the US. This follows the release of statistics from Chicago health officials. It is coming out that the blacks living in Chicago account for half of the entire Covid 19 cases in the city and more than 70% of deaths, despite constituting  30% of the population.

It is disturbing also that other cities with huge black populations like New Orleans, Milwaukee, Detroit and Newyork have become the new Covid 19 hotspots.

The records further reveal that a total of 370,000 Americans are infected with this virus while about 11,000 people have succumbed to the virus.

This is against a backdrop of 75,000 deaths and 1.3 Million infections cases globally.

Why is it that the virus is devastating to more blacks compared to others?  Could it be linked to their living conditions? Is it not disturbing that blacks account for 41% of Covid-19 fatalities, despite making up to 14% of the population in Illinois?

It is on record also that the black city residents had a lower life expectancy compared to their white counterparts. According to the Chicago public health commissioner, Dr. Allison Arwady, the blacks already lived on average about 8.8 years less than the white population.

Nationally, data has revealed that vulnerability to the infection may vary from one neighborhood to another. A case in point is the data of the infections and deaths from Michigan. Black Americans make up 14% of the entire population, however, they account for 33% of the covid 19  cases and 41% of deaths, according to the state health department.

Another case in point is data from Detroit and Michigan. It reveals that 80% of the confirmed Covid19 cases are blacks who constitute about 80% of the population here.

According to mayor Lightfoot,  respiratory diseases, heart conditions and diabetes were very common among the blacks living in this city. This was associated with food and lack of exercise due to lack of walkable streets by Dr, Awards.

Dr, Cameron Webb, a black American physician is on record telling the BBC that the racial and economic disparities were being pronounced by the pandemic. He said that “ it exposes our society’s fault lines”

Big Up Governor Joho: Mombasa County Governor Ali Hassan Joho hailed by Netizens in Kenya for taking the frontline in the battle against COVID-19

Netizens claim education is just overrated

Netizens in Kenya have hailed Mombasa County Governor Ali Hassan Joho for his efforts in containing the spread of the novel coronavirus in Kenya.

In a live interview with Citizen TV yesterday, Governor Joho said that he had set aside resources to shield Mombasa County residents against the ripple effects likely to be caused by the restricted movement within the county.

He further assured residents of Mombasa County that no one will go hungry during the 21 days of cessation.

“We are exploring options and soon we will be able to knock at the doors of the disadvantaged Mombasa residents and provide them with water, food and painkillers such as paracetamol” said Governor Joho.

He also added that the local leaders such as chiefs have already identified vulnerable families and the county government is making arrangements on how to reach out to them in this time of crisis.

The Governor also added that he is ready to sacrifice his entire salary to ensure that the poor in Mombasa county do not sleep hungry.

These acts of kindness have melted the hearts of many in Kenya. One such person is Ezekiel Mutua and CS Kagwe who have hailed Governor Joho for demonstrating the true qualities of a leader during this coronavirus pandemic in Kenya.

2020 FORM ONE PLACEMENT CHANGES- CRITERIA/ ELIGIBILITY

The 2020 form one placement changes will only affect the following categories of schools:

National schools

Extra county schools and

County schools

Sub- County schools will not be affected by these changes.

Selection to your preferred school will, however, depend on the candidate’s 2019 KCPE performance and availability of slots.

FOR A COMPLETE LIST OF ALL NATIONAL SCHOOLS, EXTRA COUNTY, COUNTY AND SUB COUNTY SCHOOLS IN KENYA, CLICK ON THE FOLLOWING LINK: https://newspro.co.ke/category/education/

HOW TO CHANGE YOUR 2020 FORM ONE PLACEMENT (NATIONAL, EXTRA COUNTY AND COUNTY) SCHOOLS

Here is a simplified procedure you should follow when requesting for a change of form one admission for national, extra county and county schools:

. The parent or guardian shall place a request to change his/ her child’s school by selecting their preferred school.

. The preferred school will then shortlist and merit all students in the waiting list and choose depending on the available slots/ vacancies.

. The school shall then enter the details of selected candidates from the waiting list and request the Ministry of Education to capture their details in the new school through the National Education Management System, NEMIS:

. Approval will be granted depending on the category of the school. Approval to join national schools will be granted at the Ministry of Education’s Head Office, extra county schools at Regional coordinators and county schools at county directors of education offices.

. Once the approval to join your new school has been granted, the candidate will be moved from the selection in his or her first school to the new school.

. Complete the process by going online and printing the admission letter for your new school.

NOTE

THE CHANGE OF FORM ONE PLACEMENT IS IRREVERSIBLE, BE CAUTIOUS NOT TO BE PLACED IN SCHOOLS YOU DO NOT WANT.

IF A SCHOOL DECIDES TO OFFER A PLACE TO A STUDENT, IT IS THE SCHOOL’S RESPONSIBILITY TO ENTER THE DETAILS OF THE NEW STUDENT INTO THE NEMIS PORTAL.

CHANGE OF FORM ONE PLACEMENTS FOR NATIONAL AND EXTRA COUNTY SCHOOLS MUST BE APPROVED BY THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION.

CHANGE OF ADMISSION FOR COUNTY, SUB COUNTY AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS IS AUTOMATICALLY ACCEPTED BY THE NEMIS SYSTEM.

CAN A SCHOOL REQUEST FOR EXTRA VACANCIES?

The school principal can place a request for the placement of more students through the NEMIS Portal if the school’s capacity has been improved by the development of additional facilities within the year.

Anestar High School 2022 Form One Selection; Admission Letters and List

Admissions: form one selection, application, enrolment rate, criteria, and requirements, admission letters, and placement list

The school admits at least 300 students per year.  This cohort is usually selected by the Ministry of Education to ensure fairness and equal opportunity for all students in Kenya. The selection of students to the school is evenly distributed across all the 47 counties in Kenya.

The main selection criterion when it comes to Form one selection and placement is the students’ previous performance in KCPE results.

Interested applicants should however tender their interest when selecting their preferred secondary schools at the primary level long before the KCPE results get released.

Worth noting is the fact that picking the school as your first choice is not a direct ticket to the institution. Any student who wishes to join the school must attain the pass mark set by the Ministry of Education.

Form one admission: form one selection: criteria, list, and letters (Calling/placement Letters)

Unlike in the past when some parents and school heads could influence the form one selection list, this year’s selection is done by the MOE and it is purely based on the student’s KCPE marks.

Have you been selected to join this school? Congratulations on making it this far. For a full list of all students who have been selected to join the institution at form one level, you can visit the school’s portal online or the institution.
