TSC Promotions 2021; Commission Calls off Promotions for Diploma Teachers, sets new interview dates, find out why

TSC promotions 2021– The Teachers’ employer, Teachers Service Commission, TSC, has put off the scheduled Interviews for diploma teachers promotions 2021 and set new dates.

This move follows a public outcry and the outpouring of complaints from the affected teachers who would have missed out on this golden opportunity for a possible pay rise.

The afore-mentioned diploma teachers are qualified and interested in attending the upcoming TSC promotions interviews but some of them are currently offering essential services- marking the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE 2020) examinations.

The Commission has already compiled and dispatched lists of successful applicants who have been shortlisted to fill the 1,000 slots available for diploma teachers in 2021 to their respective counties now that all Applications are done online.

The affected teachers can therefore take a deep sigh of relief after the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet) intervened.

TSC promotions for diploma teachers 2021- revised dates

Many of the affected teachers had already reported to the designated Knec marking centres in Nairobi only for them to receive invitations for the interviews, issued on a very short notice.

Following many complaints, the union conducted a survey among the examiners to establish the depth of this problem.

Indeed, many examiners were having torrid times trying to decide wether to shun the marking exercise and attend the interviews or not.

“In the circumstances, we urge the Commission to immediately call off the interviews slated for this month and conduct the same in May or on any convenient dates after the marking of the KCSE exams.” Reads a demand letter from Kuppet Secretary General Akello Misori.

TSC Promotions Calendar 2021

In July 2020, the Commission embarked on the final phase of promotion of teachers for the financial year 2020/2021. A calendar of activity for the interviews was prepared with the last set of interviews scheduled to take place from 26/4/2021 to 30/4/2021.

However as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic which disrupted the Education calendar in the country, the scheduled interviews have conflicted with marking of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) national examination currently taking place.

Consequently, the Commission has re-scheduled the interviews for advert Number 2/2021, 3/2021, 4/2021, 6/2021, and 7/2021 to a date to be communicated in due course.

TSC is seeking to promote all the diploma holders before the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) comes to an end in July this year.

TSC Promotions 2021- Delayed interview results

Kuppet is also demanding answers on behalf of some some teachers being invited for fresh interviews when they had done the same in December 2020, and are yet to receive any communication on the outcome.

The Commission has also not released promotion results for teachers who attended interviews in February this year.

TSC Promotion Letters Processing Status 2021; when the current TSC Boss Dr. Nancy Macharia appeared before the Parliament last week, she cleared the air on pending TSC teachers promotions for the 2021 financial year.

Dr. Nancy Macharia said that the Commission was committed to finalize the processing of TSC Promotions Results for teachers who attended Interviews in December 2020 and February 2021.

True to her word, the Teachers Service Commission has honoured its pledge to fully implement the 2017-2021 Collective Bargaining Agreement CBA and released an official Circular giving a clear picture on how far the Commission is in as far as the processing of TSC Promotions Results and Letters 2021 is concerned.

1. TSC Promotions Interview Results 2021

In the Circular, the Teachers Service Commission publicized the status of TSC Promotions Interview Results.

According to the Commission, Interview Results for 16, 152 teachers are ready.

The Commission has already compiled data for successful candidates who are set to receive their letters after schools open in May.

It is however important to appreciate that not all the teachers who attended Interviews will be picked to fill the Promotional slots.

Approximately half will receive confirmation letters while the remaining will receive regret letters since a total of approximately 32, 000 were shortlisted for the interviews.

“The Commission will Communicate to all teachers who were interviewed through existing official channels,” reads the Circular in part.

2. List of TSC Promotions Vacancies filled in 2021

The circular further denotes the list of successfully filled vacancies and their respective advert numbers and T- Scales.

The T-Scales will determine how much more the promoted teachers will pocket in form of Salaries and Allowances on a monthly and annual basis.

3. TSC Promotion Letters for the 16,152 Teachers Promoted in 2021

According to the Circular, Promotion Letters containing TSC Promotions Interview Results will be dispatched to counties.

The affected teachers will then collect them as schools reopen for the third term.

4. Number Promoted TSC Teachers Per Job Group (Grade) in 2021

According to TSC, the highest number of Promoted TSC teachers in 2021 falls in Grade C4 that is Senior Master IV whose former job group is M.

A total of 6, 680 teachers without administrative posts will be all over the moon for being upgraded to C4.

In the second Position comes Primary School Head teachers, Grade C5 whose total number stands at 2, 111.

Thirdly, we have Deputy Head Teacher II whose number stands at 1,765.
