KMTC Vihiga Campus Brief History
The Kenya Medical Training College-Vihiga Campus is less than a decade old since it opened its doors to the public in 2013.
The first batch of students was enrolled for a Diploma Course in Community Health Nursing.
Its current student enrolment is over 336 students. The campus has an ideal location, next to Mbale Rural Health Hospital in Vihiga County within the Western region of Kenya.

The fee paid at the college differs depending on the student’s preferred course. The exact fees paid for a specific course is usually indicated on the student’s admission letter.
The fee has to be deposited on the specific bank account number(s) provided in the admission letter. When depositing the fee, you must indicate the correct student’s admission number to avoid confusion and loss of cash.

How to apply (KMTC application procedure and KMTC application form)
Applications for the various courses offered at the college can be done either online (www.kmtc.ac.ke) or by visiting the KMTC campus and filling an application form.
KMTC Advertisements & Selection-Important dates and deadlines

Intakes, admissions: time and requirements
Unlike universities and TVET institutions that depend on the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service, KUCCPS for placement of students who have completed their KCSE certificate course, the college invites interested applicants to apply online (www.kmtc.ac.ke) for available intakes which take place in March and September every year.
Admissions to the college are done on a highly competitive basis and they are pegged on the student’s results in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE.

KMTC Reporting dates
Once the selection process is over, successful applicants receive KMTC Admission letters inviting them to undertake various programmes available at the 71 KMTC campuses across Kenya.
Students who would like to upgrade their skills by undertaking KMTC in-service training report on a date that is different from regular, self-sponsored, and parallel students who enroll for KMTC pre-service training.
The reporting date for in-service (upgrading and post-basic) KMTC students is during the first week of September every year.
The reporting date for pre-service (regular, self-sponsored, and parallel) KMTC students is during the second week of September every year.
KMTC Academic year and semesters/Terms
KMTC academic year begins in early September each year. Every academic year has got two semesters with a short break in December that lasts two weeks and a long break in August for one month.
The first semester begins on 1st September and ends in early February while the second semester begins on March 1 and ends in July (end of July).
KMTC Term Dates
KMTC has got three terms in one academic year with two breaks- a short break in December for two weeks and a long one in August for four weeks.
Term one begins in Early September (first week) and ends in December during the third week.
The second term begins in January (second week0 and ends in April during the second week.
The third term starts in April (third week) and ends in July (end of July).

For students to graduate from the KMTC College, they have to sit for a standardized exam usually administered by the Kenya National Examinations Council, KNEC.
Failure to meet the pass mark for the specific course unit attracts a retake. This means that you cannot graduate.
If you meet the pass mark however, you will be required to pay the graduation fees as stipulated by the college.
KMTC Final Qualifying Exam dates for September classes
KMTC final exams for September classes start during the second week of June and end in July (late July)
March class of Nursing Final Qualifying Examinations can be conducted and marked at the same time as September classes.
KMTC examination results are usually released in August every year.
KMTC Supplementary Examinations
Students referred for three months can take supplementary examinations between November (last week) and December (first week).
The results are usually declared during the second week of December.
Students referred for six months, on the other hand, can take their supplementary exams between February (last week) and March (first week). The results for the supplementary exams are declared in the second week of March.
KMTC Final Qualifying Exam dates for March classes
KMTC’s final qualifying exams for March classes start in early March and end during the last week (end of March).
This includes post-basic courses which take 18 months.
The results are usually declared during the first week of April.
KMTC supplementary exams for students referred for three months are done together with the final qualifying examinations of the September class.
KMTC Graduation ceremony (date)
The Kenya Medical Training College conducts its annual graduation ceremony every first Thursday of December.
The number of KMTC graduands has been steadily increasing over the years. In 2016, a total of 8, 042 students graduated, 8, 967 in 2017, 10, 869 in 2018 and 12, 621 in 2019.
KMTC graduands are drawn from seven faculties: Nursing, Clinical Sciences, Information Technology, and Medical Education, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Diagnostic Sciences, Rehabilitative Sciences, and Public Health Sciences.

Tetu TVC Kuccps application procedure
After confirming that you qualify for a course at the Technical Training Institute, the second step is to apply to the TVET College. There are two ways to apply to Vocational and Training Institute; physically collect the application letter from the institution’s admission office. Apply through the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS). As this is an online application, you must carefully follow the instructions given to ensure a successful application. The process is as given below;
Click on the apply now tab and choose your preferred programme.
Once a course is successfully selected, the website automatically redirects you to the student portal for KUCCPS.
Click on the log-in prompt. You will be prompted to enter your KCSE index number, year of completion, and password as previously selected.
On a successful log-in, click on institutions. Scroll through the list of available TVET colleges and select the TVC.
The screen displays the college and all the courses on offer for that academic year.
Click on the course you want to apply. A 7-character code appears; note this down.
Click on the revision tab. Click on Apply now; it prompts you to enter the 7-character code you noted down. Enter the code and submit your application
Finally, make the necessary application payments through your mode of choice from the provided list; preferably MPESA.
In the KUCCPS online application, a successful submission must have the programme code, name/duration, and the institution’s name. If successfully considered, you will receive an admission letter via the portal that you download and use to get admission to the institution. Of course, you will also receive your admission results via SMS.

TECHNICAL AND VOCATIONAL COLLEGE FEES STRUCTURE
GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP AND LOAN FOR TVC STUDENTS.
Following your placement, you are eligible for a Government scholarship, Loan and Bursary to assist with your educational expenses. If you need Government financial support, you MUST make an application for consideration through the official website www.hef.co.ke. In the case Government scholarship, Loan and bursary do not cover the entire cost of your program, the deficit will be met by your parent/guardian.

KUCCPS Student Portal Opens for 2022-2023 Placement of KCSE 2021 Government/ HELB-Sponsored Students to Universities and Colleges; Check How to Apply and Confirm Requirements Now
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service, KUCCPShas made public its plan to ensure a 100 percent transition of KCSE 2021 candidates to universities and colleges in May/June 2022.
Consequently, all interested applicants are advised to apply for kuccps placement in 2022 now that the application portal has been opened today. Kuccps offers a wide range of courses that range from degree courses to artisan courses for candidates who scored D- and E. In case you are trying to access the kuccps placement portal without success, kindly be patient since the delay may be caused by high traffic, given the huge number of applicants trying to access the online student portal. Applicants are therefore advised to remain patient and try accessing the kuccps placement service later when the error has been resolved.
KUCCPS Cut-off Points 2022/2023
The KUCCPS cut-off points are dynamic for they keep on changing from one year to another depending on how the students perform during KCSE examinations results. There are unverified claims that the placement body may raise the cut-off this year but KUCCPS is yet to confirm this.
The current KUCCPS cut-off points may not remain at C+ plus for both males and females.
The cutoff points for male candidates are 60, B, while the cutoff criteria for female candidates are 58, B-.
Following the customary affirmative action approach, females’ points have been reduced by two points. Admission to universities is expected to begin in September.
Now the university Entry Cut-off Points for Joining Universities Expected To Increase To B- Minus following a Surge In Performance.
The Females’ points have been lowered by two points following the traditional affirmative action policy. University admission is expected to kick off in June.
The School/Centre application will commence on Monday, January 4, 2022, and close on Wednesday, March 31, 2022. The principals’ manual to guide the process is available in the respective school portal.
Application Process
Each KCSE candidate shall be given an opportunity to choose their preferred courses as shown below:
All candidates should be encouraged to apply and can give choices from all four levels.
However, they should make choices only for programmes they are interested in pursuing.
It is important to note that currently, KUCCPS places students to Bachelor Degree (currently C+ and above), Diploma (C- and above), Craft Certificate (D plain and above), and Artisan (D- minus and below).
Therefore, all candidates qualify for placement in university or college irrespective of their KCSE examination results grade.
An application fee of Kshs. 500 shall be charged per student.
STAGE 2: First Revision– 2022/2023 Placement.
The first revision of Degree and TVET choices will be held on dates to be announced by KUCCPS after the release of the K.C.S.E. Results.
Application Fees
If the student applied for placement during the School/Centre application, they shall pay Kshs.1,000.
If the student is applying for placement for the first time at this stage, they shall pay Kshs.1,500.
STAGE 3: Second and Subsequent Revisions – 2022/2023 Placement.
Candidates who will not merit any of their preferred choices in the processing of their preceding placement applications will be given a chance to revise during the subsequent Revision by selecting from courses with unfilled capacities.

Kilifi Campus KMTC Minimum Entry Requirements for Certificate, Diploma, and Higher Diploma Courses
The minimum entry requirement for admissions to pursue a KMTC Certificate Course is a minimum aggregate of C- in KCSE. In addition, specific qualifications in cluster subjects will be looked into.
For Diploma Courses: a minimum mean grade of C plain (or its equivalent) in KCSE is mandatory, in addition, a combination of other subjects such as English, Kiswahili, Biology, Biological Sciences, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and Physical Sciences, matters a lot.
Higher Diploma Courses require a minimum of a basic Diploma in relevant fields, and at least a minimum of two years working experience.

Kilifi Campus KMTC Clinical Training Stations/Sites
Other than using the Kilifi County Referral Hospital next to the Campus, students also use Rural Health facilities within and outside Kilifi County for their clinical experience. These clinical areas include:
Students break for clinical experiences at the end of every block/semester and are attached to various hospitals and rural health facilities across the country. Kilifi County Referral Hospital
In order for our students to gain a hands-on experience and specialized placement, the various County Teaching and Referral Hospitals are also used.
The fee paid at the college differs depending on the student’s preferred course. The exact fees paid for a specific course is usually indicated on the student’s admission letter.
The fee has to be deposited on the specific bank account number(s) provided in the admission letter. When depositing the fee, you must indicate the correct student’s admission number to avoid confusion and loss of cash.
Some of the notable fee charges include a non-refundable application fee of Kshs 2022.

Unlike universities and TVET institutions that depend on the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service, KUCCPS for placement of students who have completed their KCSE certificate course, the college invites interested applicants to apply online (www.kmtc.ac.ke) for available intakes which take place in March and September every year.
Admissions to the college are done on a highly competitive basis and they are pegged on the student’s results in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE.

Once the selection process is over, successful applicants receive KMTC Admission letters inviting them to undertake various programmes available at the 71 KMTC campuses across Kenya.
Students who would like to upgrade their skills by undertaking KMTC in-service training report on a date that is different from regular, self-sponsored, and parallel students who enroll for KMTC pre-service training.
The reporting date for in-service (upgrading and post-basic) KMTC students is during the first week of September every year.
The reporting date for pre-service (regular, self-sponsored, and parallel) KMTC students is during the second week of September every year.
KMTC Academic year and semesters/Terms
KMTC academic year begins in early September each year. Every academic year has got two semesters with a short break in December that lasts two weeks and a long break in August for one month.
The first semester begins on 1st September and ends in early February while the second semester begins on March 1 and ends in July (end of July).
KMTC Term Dates
KMTC has got three terms in one academic year with two breaks- a short break in December for two weeks and a long one in August for four weeks.
Term one begins in Early September (first week) and ends in December during the third week.
The second term begins in January (second week0 and ends in April during the second week.
The third term starts in April (third week) and ends in July (end of July).

For students to graduate from the KMTC College, they have to sit for a standardized exam usually administered by the Kenya National Examinations Council, KNEC.
Failure to meet the pass mark for the specific course unit attracts a retake. This means that you cannot graduate.
If you meet the pass mark, however, you will be required to pay the graduation fees as stipulated by the college.
KMTC Final Qualifying Exam dates for September classes
KMTC final exams for September classes start during the second week of June and end in July (late July)
March class of Nursing Final Qualifying Examinations can be conducted and marked at the same time as September classes.
KMTC examination results are usually released in August every year.
KMTC Supplementary Examinations
Students referred for three months can take supplementary examinations between November (last week) and December (first week).
The results are usually declared during the second week of December.
Students referred for six months, on the other hand, can take their supplementary exams between February (last week) and March (first week). The results for the supplementary exams are declared in the second week of March.
KMTC Final Qualifying Exam dates for March classes
KMTC’s final qualifying exams for March classes start in early March and end during the last week (end of March).
This includes post-basic courses which take 18 months.
The results are usually declared during the first week of April.
KMTC supplementary exams for students referred for three months are done together with the final qualifying examinations of the September class.
KMTC Graduation ceremony (date)
The Kenya Medical Training College conducts its annual graduation ceremony every first Thursday of December.
The number of KMTC graduands has been steadily increasing over the years. In 2016, a total of 8, 042 students graduated, 8, 967 in 2017, 10, 869 in 2018 and 12, 621 in 2019.
KMTC graduands are drawn from seven faculties: Nursing, Clinical Sciences, Information Technology, and Medical Education, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Diagnostic Sciences, Rehabilitative Sciences, and Public Health Sciences.

Upon admission, students are expected to log into the campus’ student portal and create an account to keep abreast with regular updates such as academic calendars, exam dates, online learning resources among others.
The main clinical experience site used by students at KMTC Chuka Campus is the Chuka County Referral Hospital. Other clinical sites used include the Kyeni Mission Hospital, Kiirua Mission Hospital, and Embu County Referral Hospital.

Course Objectives
BSc. Biology produces graduates with the knowledge and practical skills in life sciences that prepare them to contribute directly to food security, health, and poverty eradication. Furthermore, the course is designed to produce capability for food processing industries, environmental protection, and wildlife conservation which require specialists in biology. The Minimum requirements are: C- for diplomas, D+ for craft certificates and E for artisan courses. But, different Courses may have more specific requirements.

Kenya University and College Central placement service (KUCCPS) is a body that is responsible for admission of students to universities and colleges in Kenya. The body has enabled an online student portal where students can conveniently perform the following:
Application for admission to an institution
Checking admission status
Checking courses offered at the institutions and so much more.

KUCCPS Application Guidelines 2022/2023
To apply, login to the Student’s Portal using your KCSE Index Number and KCSE Year. Use your Birth Certificate Number/KCPE Index Number as the Password.
All programmes have minimum subject requirements. You will only be able to apply for a course whose minimum requirements you meet, but the selection will be determined by the overall performance and the available capacity.
You may view the available programmes and their requirements by clicking the Programmes tab in the portal. You can also search for courses by institution, using the Institutions tab.
As you select the programmes, you may move the ones that interest you into the Course Basket. This will enable you to work with a shorter list when preparing your final list of courses to apply for.
Once you have settled on your preferred courses, you will only be required to enter the Programme Codes.
To apply, use the Application/Revision tab to enter the Programme Codes.
After confirming that the Programme Codes entered are for the courses you would like to apply for, please submit and follow the application fee payment instructions.
An application processing fee is charged as follows:
Students applying for the first time – Ksh 1,500
Students revising their choices submitted in school – Ksh1,000
The placement processing fee should be paid after you have selected courses.
You are advised to keep your transaction code safely. It will be required before you make any subsequent changes to your application.

Kuccps Placement Results and letters 2023; Students who applied for the 2023 placement at universities and colleges via the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) can check their placement results. This can be done immediately after the announcement of the results.
you can get your admission results by using the KUCCPS student online portal or via SMS.
GETTING YOUR KUCCPS 2023 RESULTS THROUGH THE ONLINE PORTAL
One of the surest ways of checking your admission results is by using the KUCCPS online portal.
Proceed to use the procedure below to check your placement results;

After logging in you should see a box at the bottom of your dashboard, the first page, with a message that reads
Congratulations, followed by a university you have been placed then finally the course you will pursue.
You can as well download your admission letter from this portal.
KUCCPS 2023 RESULTS THROUGH SMS NOTIFICATION
KUCCPS also sends an SMS to the phone number that you registered under your details in the student portal. The SMS contains your placement details and is sent once the placement results have been announced. Ensure that your line is on so as to receive the results.
Kuccps Portal 2023; Important Dates and Deadlines for 2022 KCSE Candidates
Kindly note that the 2023 Kuccps Placement portal will open in the month is February for KCSE 2022 candidates. The reporting dates for successful applicants to various universities will be spread across the month of May. KCSE candidates should thus remain vigilant not to miss out on the aforementioned dates and deadlines.

In case you cannot afford to cater for your full KMTC fees, do not worry since the Higher Education Loans Board, HELB in partnership with the Afya Elimu Fund offers loans to students enrolled at all KMTC campuses.
First-time applicants for Afya Elimu Fund are awarded approximately Kshs 40, 000 to cater for their KMTC fees.
The annual fees for self-sponsored KMTC students is Kshs 120, 700 per year while regular KMTC students’ fees stands at Kshs 80, 700 per annum.
Admission to KMTC campuses is done by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service. It involves a rigorous vetting process of KCSE candidates to ensure that they meet the minimum entry requirements before being granted admission.

KMTC CERTIFICATE COURSES MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS AND DURATION (2020)
KCSE mean Grade of a C- Minus and above with relevant qualifications in relevant subjects or its equivalent.
The duration for KMTC certificate courses is one full year save for nursing courses which take up to two and a half years.
KMTC DIPLOMA COURSES MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS AND DURATION (2020)
KCSE Mean grade of a C plain and above with qualifications in relevant subjects or a basic certificate in the programme/ course in question
Must be a diploma holder in the relevant discipline and at least 2 years of working experience.
2020 KMTC INTAKES FOR SELF-SPONSORED AND REGULAR (GOVERNMENT-SPONSORED) STUDENTS
Admission to the Kenya Medical Training College, KMTC for self-sponsored is usually done in March every year whereas admission for regular (government-sponsored) KMTC students is done in September every year.
Magarini Technical and Vocational College (MTVC) is located in Magarini Sub-county, Kilifi County, Kenya, specifically on the GIS-WARESA road. It was officially opened on July 31, 2024.

The annual tuition fee for TVET courses at many Kenyan Technical and Vocational Colleges (TVCs) is Ksh 67,189. This includes a government capitation of Ksh 30,000 per trainee, leaving a balance of Ksh 26,420 to be paid by the student, which can be paid in installments. Additionally, students may be eligible for a HELB loan of Ksh 40,000. Other potential costs include KUCCPS registration fees, industrial attachment fees, and examination fees.

GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP AND LOAN FOR TVC STUDENTS.
Following your placement, you are eligible for a Government scholarship, Loan and Bursary to assist with your educational expenses. If you need Government financial support, you MUST make an application for consideration through the official website www.hef.co.ke. In the case Government scholarship, Loan and bursary do not cover the entire cost of your program, the deficit will be met by your parent/guardian.

Did you know that KUCCPShas announced its intent to open the 2022 student portal for the KCSE 2021 candidates to apply for or revise their course choices for the 2022-2023 intake? This coming month of May will definitely mark a major milestone in KUCCPS 2022 placement since the admissions board has scheduled the activation of the kuccps student portal for eligible applicants to apply for placement.
Eligible applicants are therefore advised to be vigilant and either apply for fresh kuccps placement or revise their degree course choices ahead of the June 2022 intake.
Kindly take note of the fact that KUCCPS will place applicants in phases starting with degree qualifiers to universities who will report to universities in June and then diploma applicants who will report to colleges in August 2022.

How to check kuccps 2023/2024 degree and diploma placement results
Kuccps has finally activated its portal for 2022 KCSE candidates to confirm their placement and admission status. Click here to check the 2023/2024 Kuccps placement results.
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) is mandated with the responsibility of placing students to higher institutions of learning; Universities, Colleges, Polytechnics and TVETs. KUCCPS is the Government of Kenya body that undertakes the selection of students for admission to higher learning institutions for Government sponsorship. After students have selected their courses, kuccps reviews and places them accordingly. Such students can then check their placement results, online, after the selection process.
How to Check Course and University admitted to; KUCCPS 2023/2024 by using the student portal.
For the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE, candidates, you can check for your placement results but after kuccps has finalized the selection process. After the announcement of the results, then use the procedure below to check placement results;

Kuccps provisional placement results You wont be able to know the exact Course and University that you have been selected to join after the first application/ revision.
After the first revision, KUCCPS will upload a list of students who would have not been placed. They will then be given a chance to carry out second revision.
Before going through the long list of unplaced students, one can log onto the students’ portal at: https://students.kuccps.net
Then, check on the dash board. For those who have been competitively placed, the following message would be shown;
“You have provisionally secured one of your choices subject to approval by the Placement Service Board.”
You wont be able to know the exact course and university. But, be sure that Kuccps has placed you to one of your preferred courses and university.

Remember, there are 3 periods provided for by kuccps in order to apply for courses of your choice. These include:
1). School application window: This is opened usually in October/ November for candidates to choose their courses, long before they sit for the KCSE exams. This is the best moment for you to apply for your course choices. This way, you stand a better chance of joining your preferred course and is also it is cheaper; you pay only Sh500.
2). KUCCPS first revision: First revision for degree and diploma choices will be on dates to be announced by placement service after the release of KCSE results. According to the placement agency, the application portal for first revision opened
3). KUCCPS second revision: Candidates who will not have qualified on competitive selection for any of their preferred choices during the first round of selection will be given a chance to do second revision by selecting courses with unfilled capacities.
4). Placement to any programme: Any applicant who fails to qualify for their choices but meet the cut off points for placement may be offered any course with unfilled capacities taking into account the minimum requirements for admission.
