NO WORRY AS KICD GIVES GREENLIGHT ON KCSE EXAMS
2020 KCSE candidates need not worry about the upcoming KCSE 2020 national tests since the KICD has given green light on how the exams will be set.
Speaking on Thursday April 30, 2020,KICD deputy Director Olive Mbuthia confirmed that parents and KCSE 2020 candidates should shelve their worries about the end of year national exams. Instead, they should focus on what is important, learning according to their environment.
Lost time
Teachers on the other hand have been encouraged to cover for lost time once schools reopen.
“Teachers have been encouraged to cover for lost time when schools reopen,” said Ms. Mbuthia.
Postponement of national KCSE exams
She defended the government’s move not to postpone exams following the outbreak of the novel coronavirus which saw schools remain shut up to June 4, 2020 the tentative schools’ reopening date.
The KICD Boss is seeking for a common ground that will suit learners from all walks of life. This move follows the numerous complaints from parents whose children cannot access the cost of online learning.
At least 15 million learners including KCSE candidates have remained at home since Mid- March when Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta shut down all learning institutions following coronavirus outbreak.
Education CAS Zach Kinuthia also said that private schools do not have control over the setting of exams.
He further urged parents to ensure the safety of the learners. They should remain at home to avoid contracting coronavirus.
