TSC Teachers Replacement Current Vacancies  

As mandated by the Kenyan Constitution, the sole employer for qualified teachers in Kenya dubbed the Teachers Service Commission usually declares replacement vacancies at least three times per year to fill slots left empty by teachers who have exited service either through retirement or via natural attrition.

Currently, the Commission is in the process of filling 1,550 vacancies declared in February to replace teachers who exited service through natural attrition.

Distribution of TSC Replacement vacancies per County

The vacancies are meant for TSC registered primary, P1 and secondary school teachers.

The number of TSC Replacement vacancies per county varies each time depending on the number of teachers who have exited service at that particular point in time. For instance, in 2021, a total of 1550 teachers exited service paving way for 1,119 replacement posts in primary schools and 431 posts in secondary schools by February.

Therefore, there cannot be even distribution of TSC Replacement vacancies/ slots.

TSC Replacement working terms and conditions

Teachers absorbed to fill TSC replacement vacancies are hired on a permanent and pensionable terms although they have to serve for a minimum of 10 years on probation terms before getting confirmed.

They must also serve in one station for at least five years as indicated in the commitment letter upon employment before requesting for transfer via the new TSC online platform.

Mandatory pension- PSSS

Any teacher employed by TSC on permanent terms must contribute 7.5% of their basic salary to the newly launched Public Service Super Annuation pension scheme, PSSS.

TSC Replacement Eligibility Criteria- based on the latest guidelines

Not everyone can apply for advertised TSC Replacement vacancies, to qualify for recruitment, a candidate should meet the following basic requirements:

Be a Kenyan citizen

Must be a holder of a P1 certificate in the case of primary schools and a minimum of a diploma in education in the case of secondary schools

Must be a registered teacher with the Teachers Service Commission.

TSC Replacement Interview Results

Primary school vacancies on the other hand are filled using the  Merit Lists previously generated by the commission.

Successful candidates get informed by TSC County Directors of the counties where they are merited.

General Information to applicants/ candidates on  TSC Teacher Replacement Vacancies

Please note that:

To qualify for appointment on permanent and pensionable terms of service, a candidate should be eligible to serve for a minimum period of ten (10) continuous years, effective from the date of the first appointment as required by law

The Teachers Service Commission Recruitment Guidelines for Recruitment of Teachers  shall apply.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

In the case of primary schools, successful candidates will be posted to serve in any part of the country where vacancies exist and not necessarily in the county where they were recruited.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to produce original professional and academic certificates

Successful candidates must not fill in more than one Application for Employment Forms. Filling of two or more Application for Employment Forms will lead to disqualification

Preference will be given to applicants who have not previously been employed by the Teachers Service Commission

Manual applications will not be accepted.
