TSC News 2021/2022: Fate of Teachers With Degrees, Masters & PhDs in Primary Schools Declared

TSC News 2021/2022: Fate of Teachers With Degrees, Masters & PhDs in Primary Schools Declared

The Government is spending billions of shillings just to see the learners succeed in their thirst for Education in the country. The free primary and secondary education program has really done miracles for millions of students since its commencement.

The students in the higher learning institutions also get the government’s HELB loans that have been their only sources of hope.
The Government is changing the Education system.8.4.4 is getting replaced by the new 2.6.6.3 system that is emphasising on skills. The teachers are getting trained in the CBC curriculum.Implementation of the curriculum is entering grade five after tomorrow. The Government needs the teachers to be well conversant with the new CBC curriculum.

Inorder to continue equipping the teachers with the new skills, the Government has introduced a new Diploma upgrading program for all the primary school teachers under TSC,non employed and all ECDE teachers whether employed by counties or not.

However, the teachers who have done Degrees, Masters and PhDs but are teaching in primary schools have been asking if they deserve to be trained on this.

For now,the Government has just generalised every teacher in primary school.

It has not given specific qualifications of a teacher. The thing is that the teachers going for trainings must have done the ECDE and PTE exams which are the prerequisite levels. This means that whether a teacher has PhD and is in primary,he or she must go for this training that is looming.

Kuccps Announces 2023/2024 Placement Results

Following the official release of the KCSE 2023 (January 2024) results, KUCCPS embarked on a journey aimed at ensuring a 100% transition of all KCSE candidates to tertiary institutions in the year 2024.

Following the successful placement of all KCSE 2023-2024 candidates, the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced the 2023/2024 placement results for 2023 KCSE candidates.

In a statement, Kuccps says these results have been processed after the conclusion of the revision of choices for those who applied for placement to local universities and colleges.

“We are keen on concluding the process and releasing the outcome to all applicants,” said KUCCPS.

“Placement is complete and results have been released. Thank you for being patient and understanding.” Added Kuccps on their official Twitter Account.

Lat year, KUCCPS gave KCSE candidates a chance to apply and revise their choices three times.

A total of 4,359 candidates took advantage of the extension and revised their degree choices. In total, over 90 % of all candidates who qualified for degree courses applied.

KUCCPS said it also targeted secondary school graduates with any mean grade from the year 2000 to 2022 for placement and government sponsorship to TVET institutions.

After the placement results have been announced, the students can then find the courses and universities into which they have been placed by using this simplified guide;

KUCCPS 2021/2022 INTER-UNIVERSITY TRANSFER OPEN NOW; POSSIBLE REASONS; HOW TO CONVINCE KUCCPS TO QUICKLY APPROVE  INTER-UNIVERSITY/INSTITUTION TRANSFER REQUEST

KUCCPS 2022 INTER-UNIVERSITY TRANSFER; POSSIBLE REASONS; HOW TO CONVINCE KUCCPS TO QUICKLY APPROVE  INTER-UNIVERSITY/INSTITUTION TRANSFER REQUEST

Now that the KUCCPS 2021/2022 inter-university transfer portal is open in May 2022, for the next two months, fresh entrants who were not satisfied with their placement results for the 2022/2023 academic year are free to move to their preferred institutions/ universities.

However, there are crucial factors that the applicant must consider before applying for KUCCPS inter-university/institution transfer to ensure that the application goes through successfully.

Some of these factors include

FACTORS CONSIDERED WHEN APPLYING FOR INTER-UNIVERSITY/INSTITUTION TRANSFER

Since the process of inter-university transfer is rigorous; it is good to do a quick background check on some of the following factors to avoid making gross mistakes:

CLUSTER POINTS/ CUT OFF POINTS

Before applying for a KUCCPS inter-university transfer, remember to check whether your cluster points for the course you would like to pursue exceed your preferred university’s cut-off points.

Unlike in the past whereby KCSE candidates who had attained the minimum entry requirements to universities and colleges were forced to calculate their cluster points manually, the KUCCPS system is automated to calculate every KCSE candidate’s cluster points for all available programmes/ courses.

Cluster points definition

What is a cluster point?

The term cluster points refer to a tabulated figure usually acquired by calculating the number of points for four basic subjects that have to be considered for every course choice. The four subjects are considered to be the most relevant to your preferred course/ programme.

For example, a student wishing to pursue a degree in Nursing must attain certain points in Mathematics, Biology, English, and Chemistry. These four are also referred to as core cluster subjects.

During the revision of KUCCPS choices, KUCCPS provides cluster subjects for every course/ choice which differs from one university to the other.

AVAILABLE KUCCPS SLOTS IN YOUR PREFERRED UNIVERSITY/ INSTITUTION

KUCCPS provided a list of available slots for all the universities and available slots.

Therefore, it is good to confirm the capacity of your receiving institution and whether it has any unfilled slots especially in the course/programme that you would like to pursue.

If your preferred institution is full or almost full, then it is common sense to scout for other institutions that are likely to approve your transfer application easily.

PREFERRED UNIVERSITY/ INSTITUTION’S COMPETITIVENESS

It is also advisable to appreciate the fact that although all universities are equal, some are more equal than others.

If you are therefore seeking an inter-university/ institution transfer to a highly competitive university, chances are that your transfer form application is likely to be rejected on grounds that the university is already full.

Some of the highly sought-after universities include The University of Nairobi, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, and Kenyatta University due to their location within the Capital.

POSSIBLE REASONS FOR INTER-UNIVERSITY/ INSTITUTION TRANSFER

Lastly, it is advisable to give a valid reason that can easily sway the inter-university results. Remember that applying for an inter-university transfer does not automatically qualify you. Your application has to undergo verification before you can finally receive your results.

On your application form, you must give reasons for applying for the KUCCPS inter-university transfer. Your reasons had better be good enough, otherwise, your transfer application will get trashed.

Below are some of the reasons that you can give to justify your KUCCPS 2021/2022 Inter-university transfer:

  1. You can argue that the cost of living and tuition fees is rather too high for you
  2. Secondly, you can peg your reasons for unfavorable/ unconducive climatic conditions that are likely to affect your general health. This reason requires medical evidence.
  3. You can also say that the location of the institution is not ideal for you especially if you have got other engagements. For instance if you have enrolled for another course within Nairobi that you will be undertaking alongside the KUCCPS choice, then it will be easier to convince the board to transfer you to an institution/ university that is within Nairobi. Remember to give evidence to back your application.
