Diploma in Primary and Early childhood Development Teacher Education, DPTE, is a new enhanced course aimed at sharpening teacher trainees’ skills in preparation for the effective rollout of the new competency-based curriculum in Kenyan Schools.

New Diploma in Primary Teacher Education-DPTE Intake 2021; Application Deadline
The Ministry of Education’s state department of early learning and basic education has invited interested and qualified applicants for the new Diploma in Primary Teacher Education-DPTE 2021 admission. Although the 2021 DPTE application deadline was set on March 7, the Education Ministry has extended the admission window for a few days.

Hard copies of the registration forms can be accessed at the County Directors of Education’s, CDEs offices.
New Diploma in Primary and Early Childhood Development Education, DPTE instructions for applicants 2021
1. Duly filled Registration forms should be presented to the sub-county directors of education offices by the applicants in person.
2. Applicants with special needs are advised to apply.
3. Applicants are advised to register in one centre only. Double Registration will lead to automatic disqualification.
4. Upon successful placement, the teacher trainee is expected to cover the recommended hours for coursework, required hours for practicum and pass all assessments as directed by the Kenya National Examinations Council, KNEC.
5. The teacher trainee will also undertake three months micro-teaching course which is a pre-requisite for teaching practice.

To undertake training, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements
Entry grade: diploma in primary teacher education (grade 1-6) entry grade is KCSE mean grade of C plain or its equivalent with a C plain in the following cluster subjects
* English and Kiswahili
* Mathematics
*Humanities, any
*Sciences, any
For candidates with challenges-disabilities, the minimum entry grade is C- minus with a C-minus in the aforementioned clusters above.

A primary teacher trainee needs three Academic years to complete the specific curriculum designs of DPTE.

The new requirements are applicable to new teacher trainees. Those who have already trained will still get employed.
Most of the student didn’t Met the Minimum requirements for the cluster subject…but have attained a mean grade of C plain….what is the possible solution
