118, 000 Teachers Commence Training Today; Latest TSC News
118,000 TSC teachers will today commence training on the new Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

According to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Chief Executive Officer Dr. Nancy Macharia, the targeted teachers during this month’s training include heads from regular schools and Special Needs Education (SNE) teachers.
Moreover, at least two teachers from Grade 4 (regular and SNE) and two teachers from Grade 1-2 charged with the responsibility of teaching CBC mathematics will also take part in the Sh1 billion training, countrywide.
“The commission intends to prepare teachers for an eventual re-opening of schools through training, capacity building, sensitization and induction programmes,” said Dr Macharia in part.
December 2020 Training Schedule for CBC
The training schedule has already been issued and the schedules will be take both face to face and virtual presentations. It will be crowned in December 22.
December 2020 CBC Virtual Training Schedule
The CBC Virtual training will be done between December 9 and 16.
lt targets Curriculum Support Officers (CSOs) and champions on CBC mathematics content for Grade 1-3.

Training of Special Needs Education CSO’s and CBC champions will also be done virtually.
December 2020 Face to Face CBC Training for Teachers
Dr Macharia further said the face to face training shall commence on December 17 and end in December 22.
It will be done at the zonal levels and it targets teachers.
In 2019, the Teachers Service commission trained 339,752 teachers under the CBC program at a cost of approximately Sh400 million.
Latest TSC Internship News
This training starts barely a week to the lapse of the application deadline for the recruitment of 7,000 teacher interns.
All interested candidates have until Monday next week, December 14 to complete and submit their online applications.
Macharia said the commission is hiring the interns as part of the Covid-19 mitigation measures ahead of the planned January 2021 reopening of schools.
