The Teachers Service Commission, TSC has warned tutors to beware of the fake recruitment advert doing rounds on social media protests.

The fake recruitment advert purports that the Commission is seeking to recruit 5, 000 teachers to plug a shortage in schools caused by the 100 percent transition policy.

“Please ignore a fake advert about recruiting teachers circulating on social media,” tweeted TSC.

It is only the Teachers’ Service Commission that has the mandate to advertise teaching vacancies and conduct the process of recruitment.

Besides, interested applicants can confirm all TSC advertisements on the official TSC website to avoid being taken advantage of by online scammers and fraudsters.

TSC Recruitment of teachers 2020

The Teachers Service Commission, TSC which is responsible for the hiring and promotion of teachers in Kenya was allocated 2.0 billion for the recruitment of 5, 000 teachers on permanent and pensionable terms and another 2.4 billion for the hiring of 10, 000 intern teachers during the 2020/2021 financial year.

300 million was also allocated for the hiring of ICT interns to support digital learning in schools.

 

 Counties with the highest teacher shortages; understaffed counties

On March 15, 2020, the TSC released a full list of Counties that have got the highest teacher shortages.

This list is likely to influence the upcoming TSC recruitment exercise by being given more Teaching vacancies/slots.

TSC PROMOTIONS, SALARY INCREMENTS 2020

The Commission also received 266 billion for recurrent expenditure which encompasses TSC promotions and salary hikes.

TSC ADVERTISES 1 517 VACANCIES FOR PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHERS: JUNE/ JULY 2020

 

 

The Teachers Service Commission has advertised 500 vacancies on contractual basis and 1, 517 vacancies on permanent and pensionable terms.

Interested applicants are expected to submit their applications online before the June 30, 2020 deadline.

The number of vacancies for primary school teachers within Garissa, Wajir and Mandera Counties stands at 1, 148.

Garissa County has got 287, Mandera 404, and Wajir 457 available teaching posts.

RECRUITMENT GUIDELINES

The recruitment exercise should be fair and transparent.

Candidates who are not shortlisted should be notified and made to understand the reasons behind it.

In case of a tie, preference should be given to:

  1. Disabled candidates
  2. Applicants with 44-45 years with teaching experience but not employed by the Commission before.
  3. Quality of certificates presented with special reference to the candidates’ KCSE Mean grade. In case of a tie, it should be broken by considering the candidates’ subject grades.

Names of interviewed applicants should be ranked in order of merit and presented to the Commission.

Applicants who previously turned down an offer of employment from the Commission are not legible to apply.

Preference will be given to candidates who have never been employed by the Commission before.

Applicants previously employed by the Commission have to declare their past employment history and reasons backed up by evidence for termination.

ACADEMIC, PROFESSIONAL AND OTHER RELEVANT DOCUMENTS

Applicants must present the following documents:

  1. National ID card
  2. NCPWD card for Persons living with Disabilities
  3. KCPE certificate (s)
  4. KCSE certificate (s)
