The merit lists contain crucial information that will help the candidate assess the areas or schools where they stand a job opportunity.
Details contained in the merit lists include the applicants’ TSC number, date of birth, subject combination, year of graduation, evidence of internship, the highest level of education, evidence of disability, etc.
The afore-mentioned parameters are taken into consideration when determining the most suitable candidates for the limited slots.
Worth noting is the fact that over 300, 000 candidates have shown interest in the 11, 574 teaching posts announced in September 2020.
According to the TSC head of communications Ms. Beatrice Wababu, this is the highest number of applications that the commission has ever received.
The overwhelming numbers have been attributed to massive job losses caused by the covid-19 pandemic.
AREAS WHERE APPLICANTS SEEKING TSC MASS RECRUITMENT TEACHING POSTS ARE LIKELY TO FACE STIFF COMPETITION
Statistics further indicate that urban areas have attracted very many candidates with some schools receiving over 1, 000 applications for a single slot.
These areas include Nairobi, Kiambu, Mombasa, Nakuru, some parts of the Rift Valley, Kitale, Eldoret, etc.
These areas fall under municipalities and former municipalities, hence the allowances given to teachers posted there are higher than those posted in schools in “other areas.”
With this key information at your fingertips, if you are looking forward to bagging that TSC teaching job effortlessly, it is advisable to go for schools in rural areas especially if you recently graduated.
This is because such schools have attracted very few applicants as shown by the just-released TSC merit lists.

As you map out areas where you are likely to get a job, it is good that you take into account other key parameters especially other applicants’ years of graduation, recruitment dates, and evidence of internship.
Teachers who graduated earlier and those who are currently serving as interns are likely to be absorbed first, at the start of the interviews given the nature of the latest TSC score sheet.
