TSC TEACHER REQUIREMENTS IN KENYA: LATEST TSC TEACHER REGISTRATION AND EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
A DETAILED GUIDE TO ALL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL GRADUATE TEACHERS SEEKING TO BE REGISTERED AND EMPLOYED BY THE TEACHERS SERVICE COMMISSION, TSC
In April 2019, the Teachers Service Commission, TSC Chief Executive Officer, Dr Nancy Macharia had given a proposal to introduce a new requirement for teachers seeking to be recruited or registered by the Commission.

Dr Macharia Nancy had suggested that any teacher who would like to be employed by the TSC or registered must first work as an intern.
The rationale behind this decision was the fact that the majority of graduate teachers were first seeking lucrative job opportunities in other sectors such as insurance and banking before resurfacing for TSC permanent jobs.
According to the current TSC recruitment guidelines, teachers who graduated earlier have an upper hand compared to fresh graduates.
In my opinion, the TSC internship programme which kicked off in December 2019 may be a fulfilment of Dr Nancy Macharia’s proposal.
If the plan by Teachers Service Commission goes through, then internship will be added to the long list of requirements that teachers must meet before being issued with a TSC registration.certificate.
Other requirements include:
Certificate of Good Conduct
A copy of the applicant’s national identity card or passport
A duly filled and signed GP 69 Medical form
Relevant academic and professional certificates from recognized learning institutions
KRA PIN Certificate
Passport size photo
Payment of the registration fee.
