However the salaries paid to Kenyan teachers are determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission, SRC.

Furthermore, it is crucial to note that the allowances paid to teachers depend on the location of the school in which the tutor has been posted.

Those working in highly marginalized areas receive extra perks owing to the numerous challenges they face including inadequate food, poor transport and communication systems, insecurity, and unfavorable climatic conditions.

BELOW IS A SUMMARY OF THE LATEST TSC HARDSHIP ALLOWANCE PER MONTH BASED ON TEACHERS’ GRADES, AND T- SCALE

The highest-paid TSC Hardship allowance is Kshs 38, 100. This goes to teachers serving the Commission in Grade D5 T-Scale 15 which was formerly referred to as Job Group R.

Teachers in Grade B5 who are the lowest-paid, on the other hand, pocket Kshs 6, 600 TSC hardship allowance per month.
