Writing on her twitter handle, Aisha Jumwa confirmed her arrest earlier today.

She was arrested at her residence located in Kakuyuni by heavily guarded security officers.

THE RAID
Aisha Jumwa was arrested at around 2.00 a.m. today when police raided her home.

The MP refused to grant the police access forcing them to camp at the entrance since 10.00 p.m. before finally resolving to raid her home.

According to the police report, the officers got wind of the meeting from members of the public who tipped them.

On arrival, the police found 500 people, tents that had been erected all over the compound, parked vehicles and motorcycles.

In the process of arresting the organizers of the meeting, Aisha Jumwa arrived in the company of her aids and other unidentified people.

VIOLENCE
As the MP tried to inquire about what was happening, the unruly crowd began pelting stones and other crude weapons at her team.

What followed was a scuffle prompting Jumwa’s bodyguard to shoot in the air.
This further enraged the crowd who began alleging that the bodyguard had shot an unidentified male.

The crowd’s violence obliged the police to fire in the air to disperse them.

The injured male was taken to Malindi General Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
