The latest circular released by the Teachers Service Commission, TSC, spells doom for teacher graduates wishing to be registered by TSC.

The latest details reaching our newsdesk indicate that the Teachers Service Commission will not be registering teachers who have majored in subjects that have been scrapped from current curriculum.
“Applicants for registration whose training is in subjects that are currently NOT in the curriculum do not qualify irrespective of having undertaken a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) and/ or Enhancement.” Says the Commission via the current Registration Guidelines for new teachers
Consequently, graduates who have already undertaken training in the affected areas with the hope of being absorbed by the Commission will have to cast their nets elsewhere for greener pastures.
New TSC Teacher Registration selection criteria, eligibility 2021
Despite undertaking Post Graduate Diploma in Education, PGDE studies as directed by the Commission, teachers who have undertaken the courses listed below are not legible for Registration.
Reason being- the 26 degree courses listed below do not nourish teacher trainees with sufficient subject content. Even if the teachers specializes in two teaching areas later, the mastery of content is not adequate.
“Those who have undertaken a PGDE with these courses are NOT eligible for registration as teachers. These courses do not provide sufficient subject content and therefore the mastery of the content in two teaching subjects is not adequate as required.” Adds the guidelines.
Note: The Commission however insists that Bachelor of Science or Arts Degree holders with a post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) and two teaching subjects still do qualify for registration, so long as they have not undertaken r
