<p><strong>THIS IS WHAT KCSE AND KCPE EXAMINERS DEMAND FROM KNEC&colon; KCPE &amp&semi; KCSE EXAMINERS’ NEW DEMANDS<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>KUPPET&&num;8217&semi;S NEW DEMANDS ABOUT THE ADMINISTRATION AND MARKING OF THE KCPE AND KCSE NATIONAL EXAMS<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers&comma; KUPPET has tabled detailed proposals before the Kenya National Examination council&period; These include&colon;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>EXTERNAL LINKS WITH RELATED CONTENT<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;standardmedia&period;co&period;ke&sol;article&sol;2001354271&sol;teachers-new-exam-marking-demands">https&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;standardmedia&period;co&period;ke&sol;article&sol;2001354271&sol;teachers-new-exam-marking-demands<&sol;a><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>KNEC’S PAYMENT RATES PER SCRIPT AND TRANSPORT<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>Teacher contracted by the Kenya National Examinations Council&comma; KNEC to mark the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education &lpar;KCPE&rpar; and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education &lpar;KCSE&rpar; national exams now want the council to raise the payment rate to Kshs 100 per script&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>Besides&comma; examiners want marking centres&lpar;venues&rpar; for KCPE English Composition and Kiswahili Insha to be moved to either &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;university campuses or other high-level government institutions&period;” KUPPET also wants the entire marking exercise to be moved to institutions with better facilities&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong> The congestion and poor meals issues have to be addressed&period; According to Misori&comma; the marking exercise should be done in universities or colleges&comma; but not secondary schools&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>The examiners also want the Council to double transport allowance paid to teachers who travel from far away regions for the national marking exercise&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>MARKING HOURS<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>KUPPET is also suggesting that the council should change its marking schedule&period; The marking hours should be changed from between 4&period;00 a&period;m&period; to 10&period;00 p&period;m&period; to 8&period;00 a&period;m&period; to 6&period;00 p&period;m&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>According to KUPPET Secretary-General Mr Akello Misori&comma; the afore-mentioned proposals will be presented after which the union shall demand a serious meeting&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>Speaking to The Standard&comma; Misori said that there is no way teachers can be subjected to inhumane conditions and poor wages yet they are playing a critical role&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>DATA CLERKS<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>Examiners also want the Council to recruit data entry clerks and other staff to do cross-checking and other administrative functions so that they can concentrate on marking&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>CENTRE MANAGERS AND DEPUTY CENTRE MANAGERS<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>KUPPET also wants centre managers &lpar;principals&rpar; to be paid Kshs 2&comma;000 per day up from the current Kshs 500 and a coordination fee of Kshs 1&comma; 000 per day as opposed to the current Kshs 150&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>Deputy centre managers &lpar;deputy principals&rpar; should also receive Kshs 1&comma; 500 per day&period; Currently&comma; deputy centre managers do not receive any payment&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>SUPERVISORS AND INVIGILATORS<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>The union also wants supervisors to be paid Kshs 25&comma; 000 up from Kshs 10&comma; 000 and invigilators Kshs 20&comma; 000 up from the current Kshs 7&comma; 000&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>KNEC’S CURRENT PAYMENT RATES<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>The Council’s current payment rates for various categories of contracted professionals are as follows&colon;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>KCSE examiners- between Kshs 48 and kshs 77 per script<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>KCSE centre managers- Kshs 650 per day &lpar;9&comma;000&rpar;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>KCSE deputy Centre managers-kshs 0<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>KCSE Supervisors- Kshs 10&comma; 000- Kshs 12&comma; 150<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>KCSE invigilators- Kshs 7&comma; 000-Kshs 8500<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>KCPE centre managers- Kshs 1500<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>Security officers-Kshs 6480<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;
