TEACHERS TO UNDERGO IN-SERVICE TRAINING IN JUNE, CHECK OUT THE FULL DETAILS BELOW; CEMASTEA TRAINING DATES
High school tutors handling Mathematics and science-based subjects have been notified about an upcoming training organized by the Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa, CEMASTEA.

This year’s training shall focus on pedagogy skills- teaching methods. It will be conducted through online learning platforms including Google Classroom and Zoom.
CEMASTEA TEACHERS TRAINING 2020- DATES & VENUE
The 2020 CEMASTEA training for teachers will be conducted in the month of June. Approximately 11, 000 tutors are expected to take part in the training.
“CEMASTEA plans to train 11, 008 science and mathematics teachers on innovative teaching and learning approaches aimed at nurturing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The training will also focus on the integration of ICT in the teaching-learning process” said the agency in charge of the training.
Initially, the training was conducted during school holidays and teachers could assemble in selected schools earmarked as training centers.

Selection criteria
Training of science teachers is usually conducted in cohorts. Guidelines on the selection criteria to be used by education officials and school heads will be provided.
Online training
Given the current state of affairs in as much as the coronavirus pandemic is concerned, the tutors will have to undergo the training online. The agency responsible for the event has made arrangements with online learning platforms such as Zoom and Google Classroom.
“The use of purely online training approaches has been necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic which may not allow blended training that involves face to face and online platforms,” added the agency.
