What is PGDE ?
PGDE stands for Postgraduate Diploma in Education. This is a mandatory course for graduates who pursued either bachelor of arts or bachelor science at the university level but they have had a change of mind and would like to become teachers.
This course is offered in most universities across the country.
What are the Latest TSC Requirements for Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE)?
The Teachers Service Commission, TSC, is the only body that is constitutionally mandated to carry out the registration, recruitment and dismissal of teachers in Kenya.
Therefore, common sense dictates that you must first check whether you meet the set minimum requirements especially by your potential employer that is the Teachers Service Commission so as not to waste money and time pursuing a course that you do not qualify for.
In order for one to successfully pursue PGDE, the following minimum requirements must be met:
Bachelor of education arts
KCSE Mean grade C+(Plus).
At least C+ (plus) in the two teaching Subjects.
Bachelor education science
KCSE Mean grade C+(Plus).
At least C+ (plus) in the two teaching Subjects.
