HOW FAR HAVE THE LOCUSTS TRAVELED IN KENYA?

A swarm of locusts has been spotted today in Nakuru and Nyandarua counties. The swarm is said to have migrated from Salama, Kalampton, Lorian and Mihianyu Ngarua before they settled at Kiandege area within South Marmanet forest.

Consequently, residents from parts of Laikipia West and Ndaragua Constituency have spent the better part of the day in apprehension following the appearance of the dreaded desert locusts.
Shouts and cries of people were heard as the locusts filled the sky.
One of the residents, Gladys Ndege remembers how she heard screams and shouts from neighbours only to come out and meet the ungodly sight of the desert locusts.
Francis Nyaga, who is the chief of Mahianyu location and Daniel Gikaara, Nyandarua County Chief Officer in charge pf Agriculture have assured the residents that further action will be taken to tame any form of threat or destruction likely to be caused the desert locusts in Kenya.
