The Teachers Service Commission, TSC has promoted 1, 000 primary school teachers to work in secondary schools.
this is a reprieve for the 1, 000 teachers who attained higher qualifications but were still stuck at the primary level.
According to the dispatched TSC promotion letters, the 1, 000 P1 teachers were successfully promoted to a new grade- Secondary School Teacher II (T- Scale 7).
OFFICIAL REPORTING DATES FOR TSC PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS WHO WERE DEPLOYED TO SECONDARY SCHOOLS (TSC PROMOTIONS)
The newly promoted primary school teachers are expected to report to their new working stations between January 6 2020 and January 20, 2020.

The promoted primary school teachers are expected to first of all clear from their current working stations before reporting to their stations by January 20 2020.
LATEST TSC MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS SEEKING TO BE DEPLOYED (PROMOTED) TO SECONDARY SCHOOLS
Primary school teachers seeking for these promotions must meet the following basic requirements:
Be a Kenyan Citizen
Possess a PI Certificate
Have a Bachelor’s degree in Education with two main teaching subjects (areas of specialization)
At least a C+ Plus in KCSE or its equivalent and a C+ Plus and above in the two main teaching subjects
Be TSC employed
HOW TO APPLY FOR TSC PROMOTIONS RESERVED FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS WHO WOULD LIKE TO BE DEPLOYED TO SECONDARY SCHOOLS
The TSC usually advertises available vacancies for these promotions upon which interested candidates are expected to apply for the promotions through the TSC online platform before the set deadline.
CURRENT TSC SALARY AND ALLOWANCES FOR PI TEACHERS DEPLOYED TO HIGH/ SECONDARY SCHOOLS
With the promotion of these PI TSC teachers to new grades (Grade C2) comes a salary increment. These newly promoted teachers will now earn between Kshs 34, 9995 and Kshs 43, 694 per month.
Letters for these newly deployed PI teachers are dated December 30 2019 and were dispatched to Counties for further action.

This deployment thing has demoralized a number of teachers,me included. I still wonder how I could miss out. I mean it’s outrageous! I met all the requirements and still there I am,stuck at P1.

i have done p1 with mean grade c plain and did diploma kiswahili cre and did degree kisw cre can qualify for promotion with c+ in kiswahili and cre c+ but mean grade c plain.

No. The minimum mean grade for deployment to secondary schools is C+ and C+ for the two subjects you choose to major on.
ok what makes it soooo difficult for one to be promoted from primary to secondary with p1 certificate,dip and degree and with c+ in the teaching subjects .
While the same person can proceed with masters and teach colleges and universities.

My question goes to those teachers who did proficiency and got promotion to grade c1 and up to now they have never been promoted. Its now four years

It depends on the TSC budgetary allocation every year. Let us wait and see what the Commission is up to now that the budget is out.
