(Kenya) Coronavirus Defiance? Shock as angry residents of Langas, Eldoret took to the streets to protest against the coronavirus curfew on Sunday, March 29, 2020
“Heri Kufa Corona, Kuliko Kufa Njaa!?”
Angry residents of Langas, in Eldoret town, have taken many Kenyans by surprise after they decided to storm the streets to protest against the Coronavirus curfew in Kenya.

The major grievance that the residents wanted the Kenyan Government to address was hunger.
This is completely ironic given the timing of the coronavirus curfew defiance. The protest just came approximately one hour after CS Health Mutahi Kagwe appealed to all Kenyans to embrace the curfew given that it is aimed at protecting them and their loved ones from the novel COVID-19 virus.
The CS appealed to Kenyans to view the coronavirus pandemic as a social responsibility rather than as a burden that should be borne by the Kenyan Government.
They claimed that the Government had overlooked the needs of ordinary citizens, especially those working in the informal sector by enforcing the coronavirus curfew which allegedly “deprived them of food.”

Speaking on Citizen News Live, the residents said that the curfew is “too much” for them since most of them survive from hand to mouth.
According to the residents, the majority of them earn up to Kshs 300 a day an amount which they cannot be guaranteed given the coronavirus curfew situation in Kenya.
“Heri kufa Corona, kuliko kufa njaa!?”
This is the slogan chanted by some of the protesters who from the live coverage seemed to completely disregard the directives given by President Uhuru Kenyatta and the CS Health Mutahi Kagwe on how to contain the spread of Coronavirus pandemic in Kenya.
The protesters for instance did not observe a simple directive, curfew since they stormed the streets at 7.00 p.m.
Secondly, they failed to observe the directive on social distancing as some of them carried each other on their backs.
