Ken Walibora’s death
Ken Walibora allegedly went missing a week ago. His body was found at the Kenyatta National Hospital Morgue on April 15, 2020.
Preliminary reports indicate that he was knocked down by an overspeeding double matatu driver.
The driver tried escaping in vain since the police caught up with him at Burunburu Estate in Nairobi.

Born on January 6, 1964, Ken Walibora is a celebrated prolific author in Kenya.
Ken Walibora was born in Baraki, Bungoma County within the Western Region of Kenya.
Later, his family relocated to Kitale and Cherangany where Ken Walibora’s early life was mostly spent.
His name Ken is an allusion to the Kennedy family in the United States which was common during his childhood days.
Walibora is the last born in his family.
Ken Walibora’s father was a school head and his mother Ruth Nasambu Makali passed on in 1984 after clocking 51.
At the time of his mother’s death, Ken Walibora was 20 years old.

Ken Walibora is a family man. His wife, Ann Chebet and two children-Sheila Zawadi and Katila Samba live in the US. They could not make it to Kitale and attend his funeral on April 22, 2020 following travel restrictions due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Walibora has won over 40 highly coveted titles including Best Author Awards. His most recent book was published in 2014. Its themes reflect on Human Rights, self, society and political incarceration in Africa.
Ken won the Jomo Kenyatta Literature prize three times for the following books: Ndoto ya Amerika (2003), Kisasi Hapana (2009) and Nasikia Sauti ya Mama (2015).
He has also written several articles in Academic Journals including PMLA, RAL, JALA, and JALTA

Walibora has also worked as a news anchor, editor and columnist for several years. At the time of his demise, Walibora was working as a news anchor at NTV and a lecturer at the School of International Relations and Diplomacy at Riara University.

Interestingly, Ken Walibora’s dream was to become a police officer but as fate had it, he joined the University of Nairobi to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Literature and Swahili Studies and graduated with a first-class.
Ken later proceeded to the Ohio State University Columbus for his Master’s Degree in Comparative Cultural Studies and graduated in June 2006.
He also has a Masters of Art in African-American Studies.
His educational journey was crowned by a Ph.D. in Comparative Cultural Studies in 2009 at Ohio State University in the US.
