QUESTION ONE: CONFIDENTIAL REPORT

Question: Assume you are a bank manager of the Kenya Commercial Bank and one of your former employees, Mr. Msamaria Rono who worked under you for five years as a clerk has applied for the position of Customer Relations Officer at Cooperative Bank. Write a Confidential Report about Mr. Rono to the Branch Manager of the bank. (20 marks)

Answer:

Explanation: A confidential report is more of a recommendation. When writing a confidential report about someone, it is advisable that you give the positive qualities of the individual since your report will be used to determine the suitability of the person in question for a particular job.

In this case, for example, you are expected to recommend/ show that Mr. Rono is the best choice for the position that he is seeking. Therefore, whatever you write about him is extremely important in determining whether he will get the job or not.

Remember that Mr. Rono wants to be employed as a customer relations officer at Cooperative bank. Anyone in charge of customer relations must have excellent social skills and like any other employee, be able to work with other employees at the firm well (team player.)

Note: The term confidential means that the report is “private” hence Mr. Rono cannot read it or any other person except the intended recipient who is the Branch Manager of Cooperative Bank in this case.

He also likes socializing and being a team player. Therefore, you can count on him to work with other employees very well.
