KCPE, KCSE 2021 Results to be Released as Scheduled after Knec Refutes Claims of Postponing the National Examinations

An official statement from the examination body came after calls from school heads that had requested the government to consider pushing the examination dates ahead by two months so as to alleviate the indiscipline level that is currently witnessed in most schools.

“The Kenya National Examination Council’s attention has been drawn to information circulating in the social media on the postponement of the KCPE and KCSE national examinations.

“It is in this regard that we wish to inform all relevant stakeholders that there are no changes to the KCPE and KCSE national examination dates,” the statement read in part.

Earlier this week, Kenya Secondary School Heads Association (Kessha) chair, Kahi Indimuli, had proposed that students were not prepared to undertake the examinations given the numerous disruptions that have been witnessed in the second term owing to upsurge in arson attacks.

“When we brought on board Form Four students last year, these students were left at home for a long time. During the period, they were not properly engaged, and some got into the business while some picked up bad behaviour.

“While at home, they had a lot of free time. They realize they no longer have the freedom even as teachers try to reintegrate them,” said Indimuli.

Calls to postpone the national examination, would have adversely affected some students who began their practical examinations in July. The students who are taking the group IV subjects are are expected to finalize their projects in January 2022.

According to the knec examination timetable, the 2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations are to be done between March 7 and 10, next year.
