The CS said that it is almost impossible that the government can double or triple facilities in learning institutions to achieve social distancing.

Education CS Professor George Magoha has hinted on the possibility of reopening Technical and Vocational Education Training, TVET Institutions soon after he said that learning in these institutions can be easily conducted in shifts.

Speaking at a press conference in Kisumu County after a meeting with Principals of TVET institutions, the CS noted that tertiary level students in TVET institutions can easily maintain the social distancing ‘TVET institutions have a much better chance of survival in terms of achieving prevention measure unlike their younger counterparts in primary and secondary schools.

“TVET institutions have a much better chance of survival in terms of achieving social distancing, they can open shifts much more easily than primary and secondary schools,” said the CS.

On Wednesday June 24, the CS said that a classroom should hold 15-20 learners only. He however dimmed any hope of primary and secondary schools achieving the social distancing rule after he said that doubling or tripling facilities in learning institutions.

The CS said that it is almost impossible that the government can double or triple facilities in learning institutions to achieve social distancing.

“It will be most unreasonable to expect the government can double or triple facilities in learning institutions because it has taken years to build what is there,” added the CS.

MASKS

The Government is in the process of manufacturing 24 million masks for learners. He also noted that students in TVET institutions can make their own masks.

Besides masks, schools will be provided with thermo guns to monitor the temperature of staff and students.
