EDUCATION NEWS: THE 100% TRANSITION BURDEN-HERE IS A LIST OF ALL COUNTIES THAT HAVE BEEN FORCED TO BEAR THE 100% TRANSITION BURDEN IN 2020
MOMBASA AND NAIROBI COUNTIES BEAR THE BURDEN OF 100% TRANSITION IN 2020
A total of 11 out of the total 47 counties in Kenya have been forced to bear the burden of the government’s 100% transition policy by admitting more secondary school learners than the total number of candidates who sat for 2019 KCPE exams in examination centres within their territory.
According to The Standard Newspaper, data form the National Education Information Management System, NEMIS has revealed that Mombasa, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’s, Tharaka Nithi, Turkana, Uasin Gishu, Nairobi, Narok, Kajiado, Vihiga and Narok Counties have taken up more learners from other counties.
A total of 191, 242 students have been admitted to secondary schools within the afore-mentioned counties.

According to the Ministry of Education’s data, only three counties that is Embu, West Pokot and Makueni admitted learners equivalent to the 2019 KCPE candidates who sat for exams in schools within their territory.
The rest of the counties enrolled students within 66-99%.
