CS MAGOHA, STAKEHOLDERS’ CRISIS MEETING HAS AGENDA FOR KCPE AND KCSE CANDIDATES TO RESUME SCHOOL IN 2020; LATEST EDUCATION NEWS
Fresh details have emerged about today’s education stakeholders’ crisis meeting. According to Citizen TV, the nation expects a detailed update touching on crucial changes in schools’ reopening dates.

The meeting will largely address the confusion surrounding the resumption of learning in the country six months after the sudden closure of primary, secondary, and tertiary learning institutions aimed at containing the further spread of the novel coronavirus.
In a letter dated September 7, 2020, the CS education professor George Magoha invited major education stakeholders to a special national conference to chat the post-covid-19 future of our education sector with a specific focus on reopening of schools.
Monday’s stakeholders’ meeting specifically focuses on chatting the path to allowing KCPE and KCSE candidates to report back to school this year to clear the syllabus and consequently sit national exams early next year.
UNIVERSITY STUDENTS MAY RESUME ONCAMPUS STUDIES SOON
University students are also likely to resume on-campus learning as was the case before. Sunday marked the 10th straight day of a coronavirus positivity rate below 5%.
According to the ministry of health officials, 14 straight days would indicate a flattening curve.
Meanwhile, the CS and his team are visiting various schools to assess the level of preparedness ahead of reopening this month.

Following pressure from various stakeholders to have schools reopened, the education ministry might be considering the possibility of reopening basic education learning institutions before January 2021.

Besides, the number of Covid 19 positive cases is reducing gradually in Kenya hence providing an opportunity for schools to reopen Soon.
Consequently, schools have to be inspected ahead of the planned reopening to assess their level of preparedness.

Starting this month, senior ministry officials shall tour various schools within the 47 counties to see how well prepared the ground is for a softer landing.
