Limuru Girls High School was established in 1922 by Arnold Butler MacDonell for his daughters-Evelyn Mitchell and 3 others.
The school was meant to serve Arnold’s daughters and other settlers within the farm.
It began as a Junior School named Hill Preparatory School.
Initially, Limuru Girls High School was mixed and most of its female students continued with their further studies in England.
Male students were purely day scholars.
The first group of O-Level candidates sat for their national exams in 1938.
The first group of students sat for A-Level national exams in 1952.
