TSC Number Application Requirements and Procedure

The Teachers Service Commission recently migrated all service to a common online platform in a paradigm shift aimed at minimizing paper work and boosting efficiency.

One of the essential services currently available online is Application for a TSC number by newly trained teachers fresh from college or campus.

The fresh graduate teachers must apply for TSC Registration to be assigned with TSC numbers used to demacate or rather discern qualified teachers within an institution be it public or private.

This is in accordance with the latest TSC policy which serves to promote quality education within Kenyan schools.

For a teacher to receive TSC certification in Kenya, they must present the following mandatory documents first; 

National identity card number
KRA pin
A designation code
Your pay station code
Your bank account number
Phone number
Email address

Amount in Kshs Paid to TSC and M-pesa payment Procedure for TSC Number Application and Certification

The new TSC Number registration fee (inclusive of bank charges) is 1055 Kenya Shillings payable through M-Pesa business number 625625 or direct bank deposits (National Bank of Kenya A/C No. 0100100090500).

Ensure that you have paid or deposited this amount before you begin the process of TSC registration.

Verification of Documents Presented for TSC Number Application and Certification

After how many days can one get a TSC number after verification?

If you have adhered to all the requirements of registration, TSC will issue you with a registration certificate, which bears the TSC number after verifying your application.

The TSC number is issued within 30 days of filing for registration.

How to pay TSC via Mobile Phone MPesa Service for TSC Number Application

Using your mobile phone, go to your MPesa menu by clicking on the M-PESA tab.

From the drop-down menu,  select Lipa na MPesa

Choose the first-Paybill option, not buy goods and services

Enter the Business Number which in this case is 625625

For account number, enter the name TSC followed by ID number. E.g. TSC32#####1 (no space)

Input amount: Ksh 1,055

Input Pin and submit

Once you are done, take a screenshot of your MPesa receipt sent to you after the transaction.

If applying for a duplicate certificate, the fee is Ksh. 2055 which is deposited to the TSC Registration Account (National Bank of Kenya) Account No. 01001005707400

How to check TSC Number Registration Status

Once you have finished all the online process, it will take less than a month before TSC number is assigned to you. To check whether you have successfully be assigned a TSC number click here teacher registration status and use your National ID number.

The commission will send the hard copy of the TSC Certificate to the postal address you provide during registration. This means that applicant is should make sure the postal address provided is authentic. If you have not received your certificate after month, contact the commission to get further clarification.
