KUCCPS Adopts New TSC Entry Requirements and Cut off for Education Degree and Diploma Courses

KUCCPS News Today; Bachelor of Science- Geospatial Engineering is one of the top 10 marketable courses in Kenya that is highly sought after in Kenya. 1  Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering KCSE mean a grade of C+ Plus or its equivalent with at least C+ in Mathematics, Physics/ Geography/ Biology/ Chemistry, the foundational subjects.

or

minimum KCSE Mean Grade C or KCE Division III plus ordinary/ Higher Diploma in Land Surveying / Cartography/ Photogrammetry.

Under-graduate-

Degree Level

KCSE mean a grade of C+ Plus or its equivalent with at least C+ in Mathematics, Physics/ Geography/ Biology/ Chemistry, the foundational subjects.

or

minimum KCSE Mean Grade C or KCE Division III plus ordinary/ Higher Diploma in Land Surveying / Cartography/ Photogrammetry.

The course prepares students to partake in careers in both the private and public sectors. The program is offered to both government non-governmental organizations Eight to twelve semesters Tuition Fees per semester are approximately KSH 70,000 but there may be slight variations from one university to the other.
A-Level KACE or IGSCE/GCE – A-level or equivalent with 2 principal passes in Mathematics and Geography. Undergraduate Degree KACE or IGSCE/GCE – A-level or equivalent with 2 principal passes in Mathematics and Geography. KACE or IGSCE/GCE – A-level or equivalent with 2 principal passes in Mathematics and Geography. The course prepares students to partake in careers in both the private and public sectors. The program is offered to both government and non-governmental organizations    

Implementation of this programme is guided by the need to provide leadership and stewardship in the acquisition, development and application of knowledge in geospatial engineering, to inspire rational and optimal use of land resources.

Rationale

This programme is a key contributor to the development of human resources for infrastructure development, physical planning, land administration and management, education and management and use of geospatial information by various government organizations and private business enterprises.

    1. Goal of the Programme

The goal of this programme is to provide learners with the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills for collecting, storing, analysing, managing and disseminating geospatial information.

    1. Expected Learning Outcomes

At the end of this programme, the learner should be able to:

  1. Explain disciplines relevant for enabling and developing spatial concepts in Geospatial Engineering
  2. Apply formal and theoretical foundation e.g. Physics, Maths and ICT in solving Geospatial Engineering Problems
  3. Collect spatial data using various Geospatial techniques;
  4. Process Geospatial data using various application tools.
  5. Manage Geospatial Engineering projects and information using various techniques including LIMS, Web-Based tools, Mobile Application tools as well as visualization tools.

UNIVERSITIES OFFERING BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN GEOSPATIAL ENGINEERING IN KENYA

Some of the universities offering Bachelor of Science Degrees in Geospatial Engineering encompass the University of Nairobi, Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology, JKUAT, Technical University of Mombasa, Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, and Machakos University among others.
