Ray of hope as schools reopening becomes imminent
It is now becoming official that schools might be reopened in the country next month after many months of shut down as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to finally announce to parents the decision his government has made on school reopening this week with all indications showing that schools will be reopened.
This due to the fact that teachers in the country are today expected to report to their various schools in preparation for school reopening next month
With all this going on, parents and students have been having mixed reactions on school reopening with many citing lack of fees as a result of the economic impacts the pandemic has had on Kenyans.
Parents and students have however today received good news ahead of Uhuru’s expected official reopening of schools.
As established by the Standard today, the chairman of National Parents Associate Nicholas Maiyo has delivered hope to parents and students by revealing that his organization was negotiating with the government to give parents an economic stimulus package and has called on school heads not to increase school fees.
He has also revealed that when schools resume parents will only have to pay fees for second term and third term only when students report.
He has also urged parents to support the looming school reopening and not to be afraid of their children safety because if the COVID-19 cases surge, then the government will shut down schools.
