CS Kagwe has acknowledged the efforts taken by various sectors and Kenyans in general geared towards combating the novel coronavirus pandemic in Kenya.

He however cautioned Boda Boda operators against rebelling against the guidelines given by the MOH and President Uhuru Kenyatta on restricted movement.

Some quarantine facilities have been closed since they are no longer in use given that the majority of the travelers have tested positive.

CS Kagwe particularly reached out to Boda Boda chairs to man their industry lest they face dire consequences. He said that if the Boda Boda industry gets shut down, both the defiant and obedient operators will suffer.

 Special sector

CS Kagwe noted that there was non-distancing in the jua kali sector, salons, barbershops and open-air markets.

He, therefore, advised those responsible to ensure that there is social distancing.

Besides, traders in open-air markets should assume that every person they come across is positive.

Gloves

The MOH has also warned Kenyans against using gloves to substitute the washing of hands.

This is simply because there is no link between wearing gloves and protection against the coronavirus.

If anything, gloves are likely to contaminate themselves with the coronavirus given the laxity that comes with the habit.

Gloves should only be used in designated hospital facilities.
