KENYA UNION OF POST PRIMARY EDUCATION TEACHERS (KUPPET)

NOTICE OF BRANCH ELECTIONS AND REGULATIONS

The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) hereby announces the upcoming branch elections scheduled for January and February 2026. All members are requested to strictly adhere to the nomination and voting regulations outlined below.

Pursuant to KUPPET Constitution Article 13 and 14; And in line with the Election Timetable prepared by the National Executive Board in consultation with the National Governing Council on 7′ November 2025, KUPPET Branch shall hold its elections on The venue of the Branch elections shall be.

PART A: NOMINATION REQUIREMENTS

  1. Eligibility to be nominated as a candidate is restricted to members who are eligible
    to vote in the respective branch elections.
  2. Only such members of the Union not in arrears for more than 13 weeks with their subscriptions shall be eligible for elections as officials of the Union.

  1. Nomination fees must be paid within the stipulated deadlines as follows:

Branch Executive Secretary: Ksh 200,000

Branch Treasurer: Ksh 100,000

Assistant Executive Secretary: Ksh 50,000

Assistant Treasurer: Ksh 50,000

Branch Secretary Secondary: Ksh 50,000

Branch Secretary Tertiary : Ksh 50,000

Branch Organising Secretary : Ksh 50,000

  1. Nomination fees shall be deposited to the following account:

  1. A duly filled Nomination form and an Original Bank deposit slip to be attached and
    forwarded to KUPPET National office through the respective KUPPET Branch office.
  2. Deadlines for payment of Nomination fees and submission of Nomination forms are;
  3. For January 2026 Branch elections: Ilth December 2025
  4. For February 2026 Branch elections: 9th January 2026
  5. Evidence of KUPPET membership through the latest payslip and an Original National
    ID are mandatory for both nomination and voting processes.

PART B: VOTING REQUIREMENTS

To participate in voting, a member must:

  1. Present proof of KUPPET membership by showing the latest payslip.
  2. Have been a fully paid-up member and not in arrears for more than 13 weeks to be eligible to vote and to be elected.
  3. Produce an Original National ID.
  4. Be a teacher registered and actively employed within the county (branch) where the election is being held.

PART C: GENERAL REQUIREMENTS Si RULES OF ELECTION

  1. The Secretary General shall issue notices of both National and Branch elections guided by the timetable as earlier deliberated by the National Governing Council and National Executive Board.
  2. The National Executive Board shall coordinate/ensure Branch elections adhere to the Union’s Constitution
  3. Elections shall be supervised by County Labour officer from the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection
  4. Branch elections shall be conducted at the election venues indicated on the notices.
  1. a) Principals and deputy Principals shall be eligible for elections as officials of the Union provided that those elected as Executive Secretaries resign their positions in the institutions
  1. b) The position of Branch Secretary for Tertiary institutions shall preferably be reserved for teachers/trainers from Tertiary and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions
  2. c) The National Gender Secretary and Branch Gender Secretary posts are for women,1″ Assistant Secretary Gender post is reserved for Women, 2″ Assistant Secretary Gender reserved for PLWDs (Male/Female) while Assistant Secretary Gender is reserved for youths (Teachers below 35 years of age) (Male/Female)
  3. d) Teachers who pay Agency fees are not eligible to vote or contest for any
    position in the KUPPET branch elections.
  4. a) Voting stations will open at 6:00 AM and close at 6:00 PM. Only members already in the queue at closing time will be allowed to vote after 6:00 PM.
  1. b) Each candidate is allowed to have one agent at the Polling station.
  2. c) All voters must leave the voting area immediately after casting their votes.
  3. d) Election malpractices, including vote stuffing, are strictly prohibited and will
    result in automatic disqualification of the candidate.
  4. e) Members who cause or incite violence at voting stations will be disqualified from voting.
