He further noted that the last batch of papers will be transported to the designated KCSE Knec marking centres next week.

“We shall start transporting the exams any time next week because the process is ongoing,” said Magoha.

Some of the Seasoned KCSE Knec Examiners have already reported to their marking stations.

Knec seems to have yielded to the pressure emanating from the teachers’ unions for it has created more marking stations to enhance social distance hence minimizing the risk of contracting the dreaded coronavirus.

Magoha further said that the Ministry of Education, MoE is preparing to roll out vaccination to all teachers who will take part in the 2021 KCSE marking exercise especially those aged 58 and above.

In addition, Magoha reiterated that students who were involved in examination malpractices would be forgiven, adding that they would still get their results.

“Those who used mobile devices would also receive the results but have some of the marks deducted,” added Magoha.

He noted that President Uhuru Kenyatta had instructed that authorities should be lenient to the candidates due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic that disrupted the school calendar.

The CS, however, noted that invigilators and security officers who facilitated the malpractices would be punished.

“If the paper was open in Kakamega High School and sent half an hour before the time, we will look for the policeman and he will tell us where he was. We shall also look for the centre manager who will also tell us where he was,” he stated.

On this note, 27 TSC employed teachers contracted by the Kenya National Examinations Council, KNEC to man the KCSE 2020 national exams have already been sacked.

The Teachers’ employer took this step after the 27 teachers were convicted of engaging in the exam malpractices between March and April 2021.

Magoha’s remarks comes just a few days after he officially released the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results.

He noted that the overall performance in 2020 improved compared to that of 2019.

1,179,182 million candidates sat the KCPE exam between March 22 and March 24, 2021. 590,450 of the candidates were boys representing (50.07%) while 588,742 were girls representing (49.93%).

Over 700,000 candidates sat for the KCSE 2020 exams.

They are eargely looking forward to the release of their results by Knec on May 10, 2021.
