To pursue a Diploma in Education, you must have scored a Minimum Mean Grade of C+ (plus) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE). Also required is a minimum of a C+ (plus) in the two teaching subjects that you want to major in; these are the subjects that you will be able to teach at high school on completion of your studies. Finally, a new requirement has been introduced for all teacher trainees. You must now have to score a grade C (plain) and above in English in order to train as a teacher.

Universities are the highest learning institutions in Kenya and the World over. They offer training majorly in undegraduate Post Graduate Studies. In Kenya, the Courses offered in the Universities must be accredited by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Services, KUCCPS. It is the same body that selects and places students to higher learning institutions; Universities, Colleges and Polytechnics. To qualify for University placement one must attain the minimum set Mean grade and particular course requirements. Each Course offered at particular university has its own cluster cut off points, though. Most university courses take a minimum of 4 years; while, some take even more. An academic year at the university takes two semesters of three months each. University students get fees loans from various organizations. Admission Requirements

This admission offer is made on the basis of the statement of your qualifications as presented by the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) or other approved examination bodies. As a student you will be expected to register for courses in your degree programme. Any change of Faculty or Department will be permitted only by approval of the University Authorities. A bona fide student will be considered to be one registered in the University during a current academic year. Students unable to register in the academic year may Defer their studies or take an Academic Leave for that academic year. This should be done by writing a letter to the office of the Registrar (Academic Affairs), stating reasons for deferment to the next academic year. The deferment period shall be one (1) academic year renewable continuously up to a maximum of three (3) academic years. Reasons for deferment shall normally be due to: Financial reasons; compassionate reasons; medical reasons (provide medical documents) or any other reason acceptable to Senate. 15. List of delocalized, transferred teachers per County in December, 2019- Kisii

The Teachers Service Commission, TSC, has effected the December 2019 delocalization exercise for school heads. In Kisii County, a total of fifty (50) teachers have been moved to neighbouring counties. The handing/ taking over exercise for the administrators is expected to be completed before schools open for first tern on January 6, 2020.

Those moved are heads and principals and their deputies serving in their home counties and those who have served in the same station for a long period. Also on the move are new administrators who were appointed after the just concluded interviews .

Teachers with medical conditions have been spared from the ongoing delocalization exercise. Also spared are teachers aged above 56 years and those set to retire.

The Commission kicked off the delocalization exercise in January, 2018. Other massive deployments would then follow in April, August and December of the same year. Though in April, 2019 the Commission slowed down the transfers as only a handful administrators were moved.

It will now not be easy for you to pursue a degree in education without meeting set minimum grades in Mathematics and English. According to the requirements from the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), a candidate must have to score at-least a C (plain) in English to undertake any teaching degree programme. This is in addition to the minimum cluster points set by respective universities.

A student will also have to score a minimum of a D+ (plus) in Mathematics so as to be admitted to a Bachelor of Education (Arts) course. Those seeking to be science teachers must score a minimum of a C (plain) in Mathematics and a C+ (plus) in any of the Sciences offered at high school.

The above requirements will lock out many Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) graduates intending to pursue teaching related courses.

The school was wstablished in 1965. In the year 1970 it was upgraded to a secondary school. It was until the year 1988 when it was made a boys’ boarding school.

LOCATION

Masai Technical Training Institute is a Government institution under Technical, Vocational Education & Training Authority (TVETA), under the Ministry of Education. It is situated in Kajiado Town (Along Nairobi – Namanga Road) 70 Kms from Nairobi. It has a huge staff of fully qualified Trainers in their respective fields.

The institute started offering Technical courses in 1986. Since then, the institute has registered more than twelve thousand (12,000) trainees.

A Board of Governors appointed by the Ministry of Education manages the institute. The day-to-day management of the institute is vested in the principal.

Financial Aid

The government of Kenya through HELB awards loans and bursaries to needy students. All students are advised to apply for the HELB loan during admission (for those in need) in order to meet their educational goals. In addition the county CDF kitty gives bursaries to needy students through the county bursary offices.

Hostel Booking

It is very important for you to book your Hostel early to avoid last minutes rush. You will always be informed when the booking is ready and rooms available for booking.

The system allows you to reserve a room for a short while and upon payment and validation from the the deans office, the room will be allocated to you. Reserving the room does not automatically guarantee you that you will have it.
