Today, the placement board has ogfioffici released the placement results for the candidates.

Unfortunately, some 32,718 students who sat the 2020 KCSE and qualified for the university under government sponsorship failed to take part in the revision exercise subsequently missing out on the 2021/2022 Kuccps enrollment.

Kuccps Second Revision 2021/2022: Official Deadline

The affected students now have until July 5 to consider putting in an application so that they can qualify for university placement as the placement agency opens the second revision exercise on Tuesday.

In the 2020 KCSE examination, some 142,540 candidates obtained the minimum university entry mean grade of C+ plus and above.

Data from the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service indicates that 131,833 of them were placed in private, public universities and technical colleges under government sponsorship.

Out of this, Mercy Wahome, KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer on Monday, said 94,275 will pursue degree courses they selected.

All applicants who have secured a program will be notified through their student portals on June 22,” the statement reads

The placement exercise closes but will give way to the second selection exercise set to begin Tuesday and give a chance to those not placed on the first selection.

“The agency will from, Tuesday, reopen the application portal to allow 32,718 candidates with C+ (Plus) and above who missed out on their degree choices to reapply,” the statement reads.

She also called upon 10,707 candidates with C + and above from the KCSE class of 2020 who did not submit an application to do so.

KUCCPS chief executive Mercy Wahome in May said the placement will be done based on a candidate’s choice of institution, availability of places, and cut-off points.

Education CS George Magoha in May opened the revision of the candidates’ choices to give them a chance to align their choices with their grades and cut-off points.

Some 160,000 places have been identified in public and private universities, making available more places than the number of candidates who cut degree slots.

This means all candidates who scored C+ and above will proceed to a university.

For those who seek to proceed to technical colleges, the placement agency says 331,045 slots will be allotted.

A total of 747,161 sat the test, with 143,140 candidates making the cut-off mark of C+ (plus) and above and are eligible for government sponsorship.

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has issued a statement clarifying the confusion surrounding the application dates for the 2023 intake.

The notice, which was shared on Sunday, February 26, stated that the 2023 application process had not yet commenced, contrary to information circulating in some quarters.

The statement further advised candidates and stakeholders to frequently check the KUCCPS website for updates.

Earlier in the week, Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu had announced that the process for the 2023 intake was expected to commence soon, without disclosing specific dates.

Speaking during a conference on university funding on Thursday, February 23, the CS noted that plans were underway to develop criteria to be used in allocating funds for capitation and other finances.

Meanwhile, KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Agnes Wahome explained that the placement board was working to ensure a smooth placement process for the upcoming intake.

She revealed that KUCCPS would open the application portal, but this would entail following an elaborate procedure, especially at a time when the education sector was going through a raft of reforms.

According to Wahome, KUCCPS has to receive the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination results (KCPE) from the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) for scrutiny.

Subsequently, the placement body receives a list of programmes offered in universities and institutions of higher learning. KUCCPS then conducts a process aimed at verifying whether the courses are accredited as a precautionary measure.

The confusion over the opening of the application window came at a time when the fate of government-funded university education was uncertain owing to new proposals fronted as part of the reforms engineered by the Kenya Kwanaa government.

KUCCPS was, therefore, forced to issue clarifications on several occasions to dispel unconfirmed information from different quarters.

In conclusion, the KUCCPS has clarified that the application process for the 2023 intake has not yet begun and that candidates and stakeholders should frequently check the KUCCPS website for updates.

The Kenya Universities and Colleges and Central Placement Service, KUCCPS on Monday cleared the air regarding the KUCCPS 2020 University entry cut off points.

This brought to an end all the speculations about the Ministry of Education’s plans to raise the KUCCPS 2020 cut off points due to lack of finances.

According to the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service, KUCCPS, all Kcse 2019 candidates who attained the minimum university entry grade of C+ Plus and above are eligible to apply for the various KUCCPS degree choices online.

This, therefore, means that all the 125, 746 KCSE 2019 candidates who scored C+ plus and above are expected to join the university for KUCCPS 2020 intakes.

Furthermore, KUCCPS indicated universities have declared a total capacity of 193, 878 which is slightly higher than the number of KCSE 2019 candidates eligible for enrolment.

This is good news since no KCSE candidate will miss a slot in a university of his or her choice provided they meet the minimum qualifications.

Besides, there is still hope for the 563, 479 KCSE 2019 candidates who score C plain since they stand chance in Technical and Vocational Education Training Institutes, TVET.

A point to note is that KUCCPS has set up help desks in the following centres to help all the KCSE 2019 candidates make the right course choices.

At last, the process of revising KUCCPS courses/ choices by KCSE 2019 candidates which had been waited for with bated breath is here.
The most interesting part, however, is the fact that most of the KCSE 2019 candidates are still at a loss on how to make the right KUCCPS 2020 choices to avoid going through the rigorous process of revising their choices for the second time.
This article is meant to offer a step by step guide on the crucial factors that every KCSE candidate should take into consideration before choosing or revising his or her KUCCPS choices.
Another aim of this article is to ensure that no KCSE candidate misses out on his or her preferred KUCCPS diploma or degree choices.

HOW TO SUCCESSFULLY APPLY FOR AND REVISE YOUR KUCCPS 2020 COURSE CHOICES (IMPORTANT FACTORS)

Advertisements

1. CLUSTER POINTS
Unlike in the past whereby KCSE candidates who had attained the minimum entry requirements to universities and colleges were forced to calculate their cluster points manually, the KUCCPS system is automated to calculate every KCSE candidate’s cluster points for all available programmes/ courses.

Cluster points definition

What is a cluster point?

The term cluster points refer to a tabulated figure usually acquired by calculating the number of points for four basic subjects that have to be considered for every course choice. The four subjects are considered to be the most relevant to your preferred course/ programme.

For example, a student wishing to pursue a degree in Nursing must attain certain points in Mathematics, Biology, English and Chemistry. These four are also referred to as core cluster subjects.

During the revision of KUCCPS choices, KUCCPS provides cluster subjects for every course/ choice which differs from one university to the other.

HOW to calculate your weighted cluster points

To successfully calculate your weighted cluster points, you need the following: Aggregate points as provided in your KNEC result slip or certificate and your raw cluster points.

What are the raw cluster points?
The term raw cluster points for your KUCCPS course selection refers to the total number of points obtained by adding the points for the four core subjects. The maximum number of raw cluster points for any candidate is 48, assuming that the candidate scored straight As in all the four core subjects i.e. (12x 4)

Aggregate points, on the other hand, refers to the total number of points attained by the student as indicated in the KNEC result slip or certificate.
The next step is for you to use the formula provided by KUCCPS to obtain your weighted mean for every KUCCPS course choice.

Therefore, it is advisable that you select a KUCCPS course/ programme in a university whose cut off cluster weight/ point is equivalent or slightly lower than yours.

The cluster weight for all 2020 KUCCPS choices/ programmes have been calculated already by KUCCPS. You can, therefore, access them especially now that the KUCCPS portal is open for the first revision of courses by logging onto the official KUCCPS portal using the link provided below

https://students.kuccps.net/login/

2. Subject Requirements
The second factor that you should take into consideration before applying for KUCCPS placement is whether you have attained the minimum subject requirements for your preferred KUCCPS choice.
Students wishing to pursue KUCCPS programmes in Education, for instance, have to specialize in two main subjects. Such students are expected to score at least a C+ plus and above in the two areas of specialization, for example, Mathematics and Chemistry or Kiswahili and CRE.
Read Also:

3. Available KUCCPS slots
Do not go for a KUCCPS course that is already overpopulated. If you select a programme which is likely to attract many students, you are likely to miss a slot either in your university of choice or the course itself since KUCCPS will select candidates with the highest cluster points.
The saddest part of it all is that if you miss out on your preferred KUCCPS 2020 programme then KUCCPS will be at liberty to place you in any other available programme even if you are overqualified for it.

4. Preferred university or college and competitiveness

There is a saying that does rounds on social media about “The University of Nairobi” versus other universities.

It insinuates that not all universities are equal. In other words, universities are equal but others like The University of Nairobi are more equal than others. This is because they are located in the Capital City. Anyway, which student would like to go for “bush” universities leave alone “bush” schools?

Therefore, picking a KUCCPS programme being offered by the University of Nairobi and other more equal universities such as Kenyatta University and JKUAT may put you at risk of losing out on a chance to undertake the programme at all especially if your weighted cluster point equivalent to the university’s cut off.

It is therefore advisable that you critically analyze the general performance of all KCSE candidates that particular year before applying for highly competitive choices and universities.

All the best in your pursuits

KUCCPS New University Cut Off Points for Both Male and Female KCSE 2021-2022 Students

KUCCPS New University Cut Off Points for Both Male and Female KCSE 2021-2022 Students

The new KUCCPS cutoff points for male candidates starting May 2022 currently stand at C+, Plus, while the cut-off criteria for female candidates are two points lower but still at C+ plus.

KUCCPS has increased the cut-off points for university entry due to the rise in performance.

Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Services (KUCCPS) has published the revised cut-off points for KCSE 2021 candidates seeking university admission.

The cutoff points for male candidates are two points higher, while the cutoff criteria for female candidates are two points lower.

Advertisements

Following the customary affirmative action approach, females’ points have been reduced by two points. Admission to universities is expected to begin in September.

An average of 20,000 students enroll in private universities, while 30,000 students enroll in self-sponsored courses that allow them to study abroad.

If students want to attend universities, they should strive to achieve high grades. This is due to the fact that they never know where the next cutoff will be in order to avoid being left out of the university placement.
