PARENTS OF NEEDY FORM ONE STUDENTS HAVE UP TO DECEMBER 16 TO APPLY FOR ELIMU SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME (ELIMU SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME DEADLINE)
STATE TO PAY SECONDARY SCHOOL FEES FOR 9, 000 NEEDY FORM ONE STUDENTS
Professor George Magoha has given the deadline for applying for Elimu Scholarship Programme for needy 2020 form one students.
According to the CS, parents of needy 2020 form one students have up to December 16 to apply for Elimu Scholarship Programme.
Professor Magoha confirmed that 9, 000 form one students will benefit from the Elimu Scholarship Programme next year.
The government also plans to sponsor 18, 000 needy secondary school students through the Kshs 3 billion programme.
Interested applicants can apply for the Ministry of Education’s scholarship programme which will be implemented through the Equity Group Foundation.
110 sub-counties and 15 urban centres with informal settlements will benefit from the programme.
100 % TRANSITION
The scholarship programme aims at promoting the government’s 100 % transition policy which was rolled out last year.
According to the Equity Group Foundation’s Executive Chair Dr James Mwangi, selection will be purely based on merit.
According to Dr Mwangi 9, 0000 Elimu Scholarship beneficiaries will be selected while 1, 125 will be picked under the Equity Wings to Fly Programme.
This will bring the total number of scholarships to 10, 125 this year.
