The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service, Kuccps is the only body mandated to place and ensure the 100 per cent transition of learners upon the release of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education-KCSE Knec results every year.
Kuccps does not randomly select KCSE candidates to universities, colleges and technical institutions; it uses a universal criteria agreed upon after the selection board deeply analyzes the KCSE Performance of the candidates which differs from one year to the other.
Learners also have the obligation of applying for the placement by Kuccps once the Kuccps portal for online applications is officially declared open by the selection board. The Kenya Universities Central Placement Service KUCCPS recently placed candidates that had sat for the 2021 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE exams. Students were placed in degree, diploma and certificate courses through TVET training. All universities across the country and selected private institutions were involved.
In the placement results, some universities received up to 100% enrollment because of the high demand for them by students. Others even surpassed the 100% mark and were slightly over-enrolled. Some of the universities that were highly coveted according to KUCCPS placement information include:
Riara university had a capacity of 90 and received all 90 students from KUCCPS hence achieving 100% in enrollment. Daystar university declared vacancies for 330 students but they were given 337 which is a 102.1% in enrollment.
The third is the Technical University of Kenya, TUK which was given 1667 students by KUCCPS despite declaring a 1662 capacity. Therefore its enrollment was 100.3%. KCA had a capacity of 2060 but 2062 students were placed to join the institution (100.1%). Kabarak university had a capacity of 2325 but got 2327 students, making 100.1%.

List of least enrolled Universities in Kuccps Placement Results 2022
On the other hand, there are public universities that were under-enrolled by KUCCPS. These institutions declared capacities that were not even half-filled by students. They include Turkana University which only enrolled 518 students out of a capacity of 1130 (45%) and Taita Taveta University whose 1795 capacity was filled by 524 (29%) students only.
KUCCPS says that it places students according to their selection in the portal alone and cannot place students in universities that they do not want.
