The school is located 2 kilometers away from Kitui Town along the dusty Kitui- Mbusyani road in Kitui County, Kenya.
The school offers both the new Competence Based Curriculum, CBC, and the nearly phased out 8-4-4 education system to the students under the Kenyan curriculum. It has got approximately 1000 students and a total of 50 teaching staff.
The school came into life in 1908 as an intermediate school then later changed to a boarding school in 1948. It was at that time known as Campbell Academy.
