The 2019 KCSE marking exercise which has been marred by protests and go-slows emanating from some of the KNEC KCSE examiners is likely to be completed this week.

Majority of the KNEC KCSE examiners who did not join the Business Paper-II and Physics Paper III KCSE examiners in demanding for better payment rates from KNEC are likely to go back home by the end of this week.
English Paper Three KCSE examiners, for instance, are 85% through. This means that they will reunite with their families before December 15.
MARKING OF KCSE EXAMS
Marking of KCSE exams is conducted by professional teachers trained by the Council.
The KNEC KCSE scripts are marked at KNEC designated marking centres within Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya.
The exercise is usually closely monitored by various government security agencies to ensure that no cheating takes place.
HERE IS A DETAILED GUIDE ON THE KCSE EXAMS MARKING PROCESS
TRAINING OF KCSE EXAMINERS
This exercise lasts for approximately two weeks.
The Kenya National Examinations Council invites teachers who are willing for training annually.
The training of KNEC KCSE examiners takes place in April.
Professional teachers are expected to avail themselves at a designated centre for the exercise and pay a given fee to facilitate the process.
After successful training, KCSE examiners are awarded certificates. The examiners will then have to wait for a formal invitation from KNEC to go for the marking of the KCSE exams.
INVITATION OF KCSE EXAMINERS FOR THE MARKING EXERCISE
KNEC invites the trained examiners for the KCSE marking exercise every year.
Interested examiners will accept the offer then download invitation letters containing the following details:
Reporting dates
Designated marking centres
KNEC’s marking rules and regulations
Payment rates per script
After the completion of KCSE exams, KNEC examiners will report to their designated centres on the stated reporting dates in readiness for the marking exercise.
