The TSC outlines the documents needed for confirming teacher replacement.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has begun notifying teachers who submitted applications for 2,014 substitute teaching positions, with the application period concluding on May 19, 2025.
In an advertisement, the TSC announced a total of 2,014 teaching positions available, consisting of 1,309 for primary schools, 32 for junior schools, and 673 for secondary schools.
The position is offered on a permanent basis and includes pension benefits. The Commission has stated that a P1 certificate is the minimum requirement for applicants seeking placement in primary schools, while a diploma in education is required for those applying to junior and secondary schools.
The Commission has specified the educational and professional documents that need to be submitted to the recruitment panel for the verification process.
Applicants must provide original and clear photocopies of the following, along with any other pertinent documents for verification:
Required documents for verification for primary school instructors.
1) National ID card.
2) Teaching Registration Certificate;
3) Proof of having completed the Upgrade Diploma in Primary Teacher Education, or the UDPTE Certificate, if relevant.
PTE Certificate;
5) KCSE certificates or an equivalent qualification (please include certificates for any attempts made if the exam was retaken);
6) KCPE certificate or an equivalent document (please include certificates for all attempts if the exam was retaken);
7) Certification letter of results issued by KNEC (if relevant);
8) Certificates of completion for Primary and Secondary School, along with any other pertinent testimonials;
9) National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) Card (if relevant);
10) A sworn affidavit in accordance with the Oaths and Statutory Declarations Act, Cap 15 of the Laws of Kenya, to clarify the differences in names.
A compilation of documents needed for verification for teachers in post-primary education (Junior Secondary School and Secondary level).
a) National ID card;
Certificate of Registration for teaching.
c) Certificate of Diploma or Degree and official academic records;
d) KCSE certificates or equivalent documents (please include certificates for any attempts if the exams were retaken);
e) KCPE certificate or an equivalent document (please include certificates for each attempt if the exams were retaken);
f) Certificates of completion from primary and secondary schools, along with other pertinent testimonials;
g) National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) Card (if relevant);
h) A sworn affidavit in accordance with the Oaths and Statutory Declarations Act, Cap 15 of the Laws of Kenya, to clarify the differences in names;
i) Certification letter of results issued by KNEC (if applicable).
However, intern teachers who have received 50 marks on their scoresheet will only need to show their identification cards during the verification process.
Individuals with disabilities must disclose their disability status along with the specific types of disabilities to assist in determining their appropriate placement.
Following the verification process, the TSC Sub-County Director will create a Merit List of all candidates whose documents have been confirmed.
The TSC states that the Merit Lists will be accessible to the public upon request, provided that this is done in a way that does not compromise the recruitment process and fully complies with the Data Protection Act of 2019.
