The Teachers Service Commission, TSC has released complete lists of shortlisted applicants for the planned July TSC Teachers’ Mass Recruitment exercise.

This follows the successful application of the listed applicants for the 5, 000 teaching vacancies in both primary and secondary schools across the counties online.

According to the latest TSC Recruitment Guidelines, the available vacancies will be filled through a competitive selection process containing a raft of measures aimed at ensuring transparency and objectivity.

The Commission further noted that teachers who will be recruited this July will serve in various government institutions on Permanent and Pensionable terms of service.

For primary schools, vacancies will be filled using the 2020/2021 Merit Lists generated in September 2020. Successful candidates will be informed by the County Directors of the counties where they were merited.

The Teachers Service Commission usually reviews the official TSC recruitment Scoresheet from time to time depending on variables that include length of stay since graduation, communication ability, academic qualifications and evidence of Internship.

Teachers who have in the past volunteered to serve the Kenyan children for a pittance on contract terms commonly known as TSC internship have an upper during Recruitment since TSC rewards them some extra marks for their sacrifice.

The newly released TSC recruitment score sheet 2021-2022 to be used in the upcoming TSC mass recruitment and replacement in July is however one of a kind.

This is simply because for the very first time, the Commission has equalized scores for both diploma and degree holders.

Diploma and degree teacher graduates will now compete favourably with first class honours tying with distinctions.

Intern teachers on the other hand, are set benefit greatly from the recruitment score sheet released by the Teachers Service Commission.

According to the score sheet, an evidence of internship will enable a teacher seeking recruitment to score a whopping 30 marks. This is an increase from 10 marks used to be awarded for interns seeking employment.

Awarding of 30 marks to intern teachers is literally making this programme almost compulsory, that without it, no chance of employment. Initially, when the programme was introduced by the commission, unemployed teachers gave it a wide berth.

Another scoring area that has been improved is the length of stay since graduation. From the just released score sheet, duration of stay since graduation will not to matter so much as it used to be. This will undoubtedly end the tradition of those teachers who seek employment in other sectors first only for them to think of TSC recruitment few years later.

Here is how marks for length of stay since graduation will be awarded;

Finally, five marks have been set aside for communication ability, co-curricular certificate of participation, academic performance of learners for the last three years and evidence of special talent.

In most cases this area is very crucial when it comes to breaking of ties.
