<p><strong>TSC Hints at a Possible Payrise for Teachers in July&comma; Citing  Final CBA talks with SRC&colon; TSC Teachers Salaries 2021<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>The Teachers Service Commission &lpar;TSC&rpar; has shed some light on a possible payrise for all teachers in July 2021&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>This follows the latest update by the teachers&&num;8217&semi; employer indicating that the commission is in  its final stage of CBA negotiation with the Salaries and Remuneration Commission &lpar;SRC&rpar;&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong> Through a letter dated 8th February 2021 addressed to Kenya National Union of Teachers &lpar;Knut&rpar; Secretary General wilson Sossion&comma; TSC also warned the union against making unsubstantiated claims  as it seeks to finalize talks with SRC&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;The Commission is in the process of concluding internal consultations with SRC as per the law to pave way for the CBA negotiations&period; In the meantime&comma; we ask you to be patient and avoid unfounded allegations on the matter&comma;&&num;8221&semi; wrote TSC&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>In the new CBA deposited at the Salaries and Remuneration Commission and which is to take effect from July 2021&comma; the Teachers Service Commission &lpar;TSC&rpar; has proposed a minimum 16&percnt; increment in basic salary for teachers&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>New 2021 CBA to favour classroom teachers&comma; says TSC<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Unlike the previous CBA which ended in July 2020 and only favoured school administrators&comma; the current CBA which run from July 2021 to July 2025 will plugin the gap between teachers in lower and higher grades&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Teachers in Grades C4 to D5 will benefit from a 16&percnt; increment in their basic salaries in the proposed new Collective bargaining agreement by their Employer&period; Those in Grade B5 to Grade C3 will see a 32&percnt; pay rise in their salaries should the new CBA be implemented&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The 2021-2025 CBA also recommending an increment of up to 20 per cent in house allowances&comma; commuter and leave allowances&period; This essentially implying that Senior and Chief principals are to earn at least Ksh&period;131&comma; 380 and a maximum of Ksh&period;157&comma; 656&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Deputy principals ranked between job Group D1 to D3 will earn between Ksh&period;77&comma;840 and Ksh&period;125&comma; 573&period; However Knut and Kuppet had opposed the CBA proposals by TSC&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The two unions had last year made submissions for the new CBA where KNUT wanted the basic pay to be raised by between 120&percnt; and 200 percent&period; Kuppet had also proposed a basic salary increment of between 30 percent and 70 percent&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>TSC LETTER TO KNUT ON NEGOTIATIONS OF THE 2021- 2025 CBA<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The Secretary General<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Kenya National Union of Teachers<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>PO Box 30407-00100 NAIROBI<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>NEGOTIATIONS ON THE 2021-2025 CBA<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>We acknowledge receipt of your letter ref&colon; KNUT&sol;TSC&sol;60&sol;1 &sol;2020 dated 27&sol;01&sol;2021 contents of which we have duly noted&period; It is the Commission’s position that the issues set out in your letter under reference and many other similar letters were conclusively addressed vide our letter ref&colon;CS&sol;TSC&sol;68&sol;VOL XI dated 2&sol;5&sol;2019&period; &lpar;Copy attached herein for ease of reference&rpar;&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>In our said letter&comma; we reiterated both the national and International framework for public sector CBA negotiations specifically the constitutional requirement to obtain an advisory opinion from the Salaries and Remuneration Commission &lpar;SRC&rpar; and to exhaust internal consultation with relevant Government agencies prior to commencement of negotiations&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The above position is in tandem with the decision of the Court of Appeal in Civil Appeal No&period; 196 of 2015&colon; Teachers Service Commission &lpar;TSC&rpar; Kenya Union of Teachers &lpar;KNUT&rpar;&amp&semi; 3 others&lpar;215&rsqb; The Commission is in the process of concluding internal consultations with SRC as per the law to pave way for the negotiations&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
