VACANT POSITIONS IN THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION – STATE DEPARTMENT FOR TECHNICAL,
VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Applications are invited from qualified persons with Degree, Higher National Diploma (HND) and or Diploma Holders for the positions of Vocational and Technical Trainers (CSG 10/JG K) and Assistant Vocational and Technical Trainer II (CSG 11/ Job Group J) respectively available in the following Public Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Institutions as indicated (check below).

i. The details of the posts and mode of application can be accessed on www.mygov.go.ke and the Public Service Commission website www.publicservice.go.ke

ii. Interested and qualified persons are requested to submit their applications directly to the  institutions where vacancies exist by filling ONE (1) PSC 2 (Revised 2016) application form and attaching copies of National ID card, academic and professional certificates, transcripts and any other testimonials. The form may be downloaded from the Commission website www.publicservice.go.ke

iii. It is an offence to include incorrect information in the application.

iv. Only shortlisted and successful applicants will be contacted.

v. Canvassing in any form will lead to automatic disqualification.

vi. Basic Salary Scale: Ksh.41,420 – Ksh.57,230 p.m.

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

(i) A Bachelor of Education in Technical Education Degree or a Bachelor of Education Degree in any of the under listed specializations in Table 1 or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
OR
A Bachelor Degree/Higher National Diploma in any of the under listed specializations in Table 1 or equivalent and relevant qualification; and a Diploma in Education or an Advanced Diploma in Education/Diploma in Technical Trainer Education or a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from a recognized Institution;
OR
A Bachelor Degree/Higher National Diploma in any of the under listed specializations in Table 1 or equivalent and relevant qualification; and

(ii) Be licensed by TVET Authority or meet the requirement for licensing by TVETA;
(iii) Be a member of a relevant professional body (where applicable).
(iv) Applicants for plumbing should possess craft certificate in plumbing and Degree/Higher National Diploma in Building Technology/Civil Engineering or relevant TVET specialization;
(v) Applicants for welding and fabrication should possess craft certificate in welding and Degree/Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or relevant TVET specialization;
(vi) Applicants for Hair Dressing and Cosmetology should possesses craft certificate in Hair Dressing and Cosmetology and Degree/Higher National Diploma in Hair Dressing and Cosmetology or relevant TVET specialization;

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities at this level will include: –
(i) Undertaking training in areas of specialization in accordance with the syllabus;
(ii) Preparing teaching/learning materials and schemes of work;
(iii) Setting and marking examination/assignment;
(iv) Carrying out research work under the guidance and supervision of a senior
trainer; and
(v) Supervising trainees’ projects and practical work
(vi) Preparing training documents
(vii) Undertaking training activities,
(viii) Participating in development and review of curricula;
(ix) Participating in development of training manuals; and

(x) Setting, moderating and marking examinations
(xi) Participate in trainee practical assessments
(xii) Performing any other function that is incidental or consequential to the
functions of the department.
