2. Sensitization of Regional Directors of Education Virtually- Friday December 16, 2022
3. Applications for TSC vacancies 2022/2023 (Online)-Between Tuesday December 13, 2022 and Monday December 19, 2022
4. Generation of TSC recruitment merit lists, Shortlisting by county selection panels and invitation for interviews-Between Tuesday December 20, 2022 and Thursday December 29, 2022.
5. TSC Recruitment Interviews at the Counties- Between Thursday January 5, 2023,  and Wednesday January 11, 2023.
6. Vetting of applicant’s documents, handling of complaints, signing of internship contracts and offer of employment letters-Between Thursday January 12, 2023 and Friday January 20, 2023.
7. Reporting of newly recruited teachers and interns to new schools/ working stations-Monday January 23, 2023.

TSC News Today; The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has invited the top 5 applicants from system generated merit lists per county for every school and subject combination.

Since July, the Commission introduced a new way of saving time during TSC recruitment exercises by sampling top 5 applicants only.

In the upcoming January 2023 TSC recruitment exercise, older graduates and teachers on internship obviously have an upper hand since the Commission caps the recruitment age at 45 years and below.

According to the 2022/2023 TSC recruitment roadmap, interviews for recruitment will be county based and is to be done between Thursday 5^th January 2023 and Wednesday 11^th January, 2023. 

The recruited teachers will report to schools on Monday 23^rd January 2023.

COUNTY DIRECTORS TO SUBMIT REPORTING STATUS BY 28^TH FEBRUARY, 2023.  SUBMISSION OF EXIT REPORT TO THE CEO BY 17^TH MARCH, 2023.

“During the recruitment, we will consider the time when the teachers graduated and the grade strength. We encourage even those teachers with 58 years to apply so that they can be considered to serve the commission for the remaining period before they attain the retirement age,” Muturi said.

He added: “To ensure transparency, the guidelines are structured so that those who graduated early are given the first priority.”

To be employed by the Commission one must meet the following requirements;

• 1 Must be a Kenyan citizen
• Must be 45 years of age and below
• Must be registered as a teacher as stipulated in Section 23 of the Teachers Service Commission Act 2012.

  B: Those registered but do not possess Certificates of Registration must attach a copy of online printout of TSC Number and original bank pay-in slip for teacher registration.
  

• Original Professional and Academic Certificates which may include;
  • CPE/KCPE Certificate
  • KCE/KCSE Certificate
  • PTE Certificate
  • Diploma Certificate
  • Degree Certificate
  • School Leaving Certificate

NB: Candidates without academic and professional certificates must show evidence of having applied for confirmation from KNEC and it is the onus of the concerned teacher to follow-up with KNEC within 14 days.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR RECRUITMENT BY TSC

 Graduate Teachers

Applicants must have:

• a minimum mean-grade of C+ (plus) at KCSE and C+ (plus) in each of the two teaching subjects or, a minimum of two (2) principles and one (1) subsidiary pass at ‘A’ Level.
• In addition, they must have:
  • A Bachelor of Education Degree with two (2) teaching subjects.
  • A Bachelor of Science or Arts Degree plus a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) with two teaching subjects. TSC Employment Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science with Education and Bachelor of Arts with Education with two teaching subjects.

NB: Bachelor of Education holders with C Plain mean grade and C Plain in the two teaching subjects at KCSE and have undertaken a diploma or A-Level also qualify
