HOW TO APPLY FOR THE 2019/2020 TSC RE-ADVERTISED 3, 469 VACANCIES
The TSC Boss Dr Nancy Macharia has confirmed the re-advertisement of the 2019 TSC promotion vacancies after the Commission received complaints from education stakeholders especially teachers seeking promotions and the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers, KUPPET regarding the newest requirement- a Master’s Degree from a recognized university.

According to Dr Nancy Macharia, the Teachers Service Commission has re-advertised the following promotion posts:
369 vacancies for Principals (Job Group D3)
451 posts for Headteachers (Job Group C5)
2, 634 positions for Deputy Head Teachers (Job Group C4)
25 posts for Deputy Principal II T-Scale 12
17 posts for Deputy Principal II (D1) T-Scale 11-Senior Master II
100 positions for Secondary Teacher I (C3)
8 positions for Secondary Teacher I (C3) T-Scale 8
10 positions for Deputy Principal II (D2) T-Scale 12
8 positions for Senior Master III (C5) T-Scale 10

LATEST TSC MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR TEACHERS SEEKING TO BE PROMOTED TO SERVE AS PRINCIPALS AND HEAD TEACHERS (2019)
Following the recent complaints by teachers who were turned away from the 2019 TSC promotions’ interviews at various venues, the Teachers Service Commission has been forced to re-advertise the positions.

The teachers who were not allowed to attend the interviews failed to meet one of the per-qualifications for the TSC promotion interviews- a Masters Degree.
Some of these teachers had been appointed by the TSC to serve as principals and headteachers temporarily due to acute shortages. They, therefore, felt that it was very unfair for them to be denied a chance to attend the promotions’ interviews in order to be confirmed.
This attracted the attention of KUPPET which intervened hence leading to the re-advertisement of the currently available promotions’ posts.

2019 TSC REQUIREMENTS FOR THOSE SEEKING TO BE PROMOTED TO THE POSITION OF PRINCIPALS
TSC TEACHERS SEEKING TO SERVE AS PRINCIPALS OF SECONDARY SCHOOLS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:
s/he must:
-Have served as a deputy principal for at least three years.
-Obtain the required rating in the Teachers Performance Appraisal Development
-Meet the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Kenyan Constitution
-Be serving under the current TSC Career Progression Guidelines (CPGs)
-Be serving as a Deputy Principal II T-Scale 12, D2.
Note: Deputy Principals who were appointed by the TSC after July 1 2017 are advised to apply.
