The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has interdicted Litein Boys High School Chief Principal, Richard Sang, following the recent student unrest that saw learners go on strike recently.

In the interim, Deputy Principal Academics Edwin Chirchir, has been appointed to take over as acting Principal as investigations into the cause of the unrest and general school management continue.

Sources within the institution indicate that the student strike disrupted learning for several days, forcing education officials from Kericho County and the Ministry of Education to intervene. The students had reportedly raised grievances related to school administration and learning conditions, leading to heightened tension before calm was restored.

“The situation got out of hand, but learning has since resumed under tight supervision. The acting principal has taken charge, and normalcy is slowly returning,” said a teacher who requested anonymity.

Sang, who assumed leadership of the national school in 2023, is credited with maintaining discipline and improving academic performance during his tenure. However, the recent unrest and emerging administrative issues are believed to have triggered the leadership change.

Parents and alumni have called for a transparent investigation, urging the Ministry of Education and TSC to handle the matter professionally to protect the school’s reputation.

“We are confident that the authorities will address whatever went wrong without compromising the students’ academic focus,” said a parent representative.

As of today, neither the TSC nor the Ministry of Education had issued an official statement on the developments.

Litein Boys High School remains one of the top-performing national schools in the South Rift region, known for its academic discipline and consistent excellence in national examinations.
