The much anticipated July 2020 pay rise has been effected by the Teachers Service Commission. However, not all tutors will be smiling all the way to the bank as dreamers put it. Most teachers still have nothing to smile about.
Unlike KUPPET, KNUT has never held any fruitful meeting with the teachers’ employer. Most of the engagements have culminated in court battles that leave the union dented.
The conditions for reinstatement of the 3, 500 affected teachers into the TSC payroll include:
A formal letter through the teacher’s immediate supervisor that is the principal or headteacher to explain why they did not adhere to the instructions given about declaring their wealth online.
The announcement by the teachers’ employer, TSC about the much anticipated July 2020 pay rise, however does not offer any hope for these tutors since their CBA was implemented in the first two phases only.
