NATIONAL SCHOOLS APPROVED AS JUNIOUR SECONDARY SCHOOLS
This move is highly welcome especially now that parents and guardians are still groping in the dark trying to swim across the murky waters of selecting schools for their grade six KPSEA candidates who are set to join junior secondary starting February 2023 after sitting their summative KPSEA tests that have been slotted for administering this coming November.
According to the new grade 7 selection guidelines, grade six KPSEA candidates are expected to select 2 schools from each cadre or category that is private, national, extra county, county and sub county schools.
Just like their standard eight KCPE counterparts, grade six KPSEA candidates will sit for a national test which will be administered in November 2022 before proceeding to their most preferred junior Secondary Schools.
Lost of National Schools Approved for Junior Secondary School
However, the latest details on the list of national schools approved as Junior Secondary School education centres seen by this author show that not all national schools have been better and approved to offer junior secondary school.
Kindly note that some national schools are already bursting at the seams following the huge enrolment occasioned by the roll out of the 100% transition policy.
Besides this, other national schools did not get the funds for building extra classrooms to host the incoming junior secondary school learners who will get newly admitted in January 2023.

Selection Criteria for 2022/2023 KPSEA Candidates to Junior Secondary Schools per Category-National Schools,
The government through the Cabinet Secretary in charge of Education noted that KPSEA 2022/2023 candidates will be placed to national schools of their choice by January 2023 based on these parameters; KPSEA candidates’ score, School Based Assessment, affirmative action and proximity of the school to their homes since junior secondary school learners are expected to commute or trek to and fro on a daily basis ( enrol as dayscholars at grade 7).
